After running a livedvd of #! (crunchbang linux) i liked it's openbox look so much that I tried to emulate it on my mint machine. This is fairly close to the #! look, although I made a few changes to suit my own style, including the tint2 panel arranged vertically, a few minor changes to the conky system monitor/display utility. Performance is top shelf, although I believe #! has a modded openbox package included with their distro.

In the middle: Compiling SBCL 0.9.7 (using the 0.9.4 binary) locally on OSX 10.4

On the right: SSH session to my Solaris machine, running Emacs and the ERC IRC client, connected to my IRC server.

International Road Congresses are organised by PIRAC (Permanent International Association of Road Congresses) who were established at Paris in 1909. The first International Road Congress was held in 1908 which brought together delegations from many countries to discuss problems with regards to newly evolving road systems.

At that time motor cars were few and most of the road infrastructure was constructed for horse-drawn traffic but with the development of pneumatic tyres, it was widely recognised that their use was totally incompatible with the current roads. Pneumatic tyres would literally disintegrate the road surfaces and new methods of metalling road surfaces were being developed. Before the First World War, France was the leading country for technical developments in road construction and provided a model of excellence for other countries to follow.

PIARC still exists today and provides a forum for its member countries to share information and experiences in the field of road infrastructure and road transport.
