This week; "Doorways".

Our Daily Challenge - Sticky

John accidently landed in my Lindor Ball!

What a sticky mess - he claims he tripped and fell - I'm not buying it!

No John was harmed in this Challenge!

Such Shame

To my great regret, I missed my shot for yesterday. Too much drinking, too much partying, the usual. So as penance I'll have two shots for today. Oh how much I pain for my meager amount of followers, whose days were probably wrecked yesterday due to the abscense of my daily photo. To them, I apologize. You may take the blade from your throat and resume living your lives, I'm so sorry.

If it's any consolation, I'm so out of it I left my ISO at 1600, so this shot came out nice and grainy.

I had to persuade you with my vile and vicious ways

but still

you promised

I like my new chair location. It feels somewhat inspiring to be sitting next to the big windows. I can reach my guitar and my camera and my white noise machine and, best of all, my pills.

ok this is it for a while, folks. we're leaving for vacation very early tomorrow morning, but i'm saying farewell to flickr tonight so i can pack and get ready for two weeks in maine -- wooot! we'll be in portland for a week with old friends, then a pitstop at llbean, then a week just with the hubs in a cottage on the coast, with some books, some wine and the ocean.

so i'll leave you with some lines on the asphalt and some lines from the boss:

hey what else can we do now

except roll down the window

and let the wind blow back your hair

well the night's busting open

these two lanes will take us anywhere

we got one last chance to make it real

to trade in these wings on some wheels

climb in back

heaven's waiting on down the tracks

oh oh come take my hand

riding out tonight to case the promised land

oh oh thunder road, oh thunder road

oh thunder road

lying out there like a killer in the sun

hey i know it's late we can make it if we run

oh thunder road, sit tight take hold

thunder road

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

All I'm saying is this body needs healing.

Edit: Explored. Thank you, thank you.

365/30 I Love John Mayer! He's hot and I could listen to him sing for EVER!!! And check out the new Skechers baby!! They were on sale! Oh and I am uploading on the same day again! Someone give me a cookie!

That this appears to be a painting is a tribute to the skills of the artist with a little help from Magic Hour light.

It's a 25-foot-tall sculpture currently on display outdoors on Michigan Avenue in Chicago.

God Bless America

Sculptor: J. Steward Johnson

The newest piece by sculptor Seward Johnson from the series Icons Revisited.

The 25-foot-tall couple taking center stage reimagines Grant Wood’s American Gothic (1930), a popular painting in the Art Institute of Chicago’s permanent collection.

"I had in mind something which I hope to convey to a fairly wide audience in America -- the picture of a country rich in the arts of peace; a homely lovable nation, infinitely worth any sacrifice necessary to its preservation."

- Grant Wood, in a statement accompanying his final painting

Another one from the archives. I took it at a perfect day, that I spent with my friend at Bowen Island, near Vancouver Canada.

Somehow, this place had such a calming effect on both of us, that we ended up spending most of our time at the island, just sitting on a (massive) tree stump at the beach, enjoying this fantastic view.

If i ever go back to Vancouver, I definitely have to go back here!

You will regret

the moon. it was huge. i can't even believe this photo, because the way it looked in real life, well, that little dot there should have taken up the entire frame. also, the sky was pink and beautiful. perfect for black and white film :).

when i took this, my iphone magically focused on my windshield (which desperatelly needs to be cleaned) instead of the cool clouds/sun. i like how it turned out. nope. that isn't added texture. it's good old fashioned dirt, people.

...is like a Spring day. - Russian Proverb

Rescued after being struck by a car, this owl is now unable to survive in the wild. He lives with many other injured or un-releasable raptors at the rescue center run by the Oregon Zoo, and stands less than 7 inches tall. He is full-grown.

Most rescued birds at the zoo are off-exhibit unless they are walking the grounds with their keepers. There are two rescued bald eagles on display at all times (named Jack and Athena), and one (named Chinook) who only is only shown during the 'Predators of the Sky' routine in summertime.

In case you were wondering:

I like to shiver. I like the tingling, over sensitive feeling it gives, like your skin is hyperfocused. I also like getting cold just so I'll shiver. Sure, I'll complain, but I am the girl whose walked barefoot in the snow (albeit not for very long). That was beyond any sense of the aesthetic. If I could find a way to be warm and shiver, one that didn't get me in trouble and lead to awkward glances the next day, I would.

Poor Stella has been itching, chewing and scratching for a month. The vet has tried two different combinations of meds but neither has given her any relief. Today I gave her a medicated oatmeal bath which she endured. Unfortunately it didn't stop her from itching. We've been referred to an animal dermatologist.

Yup, this is getting desperate. So, with little inspiration and already having done an obligatory shot of a Starbucks cup yesterday here I am with my other go to, a pint of beer (pilsner in this instance). Argh! Well at least this qualifies for LDoFM.
