I got this FM transmitter for my brand new iPod nano, so now I can listen to my iPod in the car. I got the iPod because I finally decided that there was enough of a reason to get one, what with there being several medical podcasts that would help me make productive use of my time, especially driving. Now, when I drive to Ann Arbor or Toledo, I listen to medical lectures on the way. It's perfect for that 50 minute lecture.
I looked at a lot of different FM transmitters, and was disheartened to find that most were $50 or more. So, dejected, I went home, and on the way stopped by a Duane Reade, and found they had an FM transmitter for $35. A steal if it worked.
Well, works like a charm. And my iPod is on a cord, so I can hold it in my hand while driving, or tuck it in my pocket where I normally keep it when walking about.
I sold my soul and used the money to buy a used 5th generation 80gb ipod for pretty cheap. I run rockbox on it (rockbox.org), which is awesome. Unfortunately the battery stopped holding a charge. Replacement cost me about $30 NZD and came with a tool for opening up the ipod.
