iPhone photo of the sun rising above the misty fields next to our house. You can tell Autumn is upon us as I actually start getting up in time for sunrise photos! This was 7.19am - there is no chance in the Summer months HFF!
Silly me. I just recently realized it’s possible to capture raw images with my iphone. So taking photos with a smartphone got way more exciting 🔥🔥🔥 Here’s one!
Looking southward toward the fog rolling over the ridge of East River Mountain from Bland Street shows both the beauty and the desolation of the formerly bustling town of Bluefield, WV (pop. 10,500), about 100 miles due west of Roanoke. During the town’s heyday in the 19th century, it was one of the (per capita) wealthiest towns in the U.S.. Bluefield now faces the twin ravages of unemployment and addiction as it tries to get back on its feet economically.
A few days down in London saw us visit the 'BEYOND THE STREETS' exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery. A superb collection from the last 50 years of ephemera, fashion, installations and artwork capturing the impact of graffiti and street art across the world, covering the often rough and raw beginnings to more disciplined studio works that some artists have evolved to.
All three floors of the gallery are given over to the exhibition - a visual feast and a fabulous way of spending a couple of hours👍
This wall features the work of US artist Shepard Fairey.
