Inventors house from Dave Graffam models. This one took me a few evenings, its an order of magnitude more fiddly than the others I made for Malifaux terrain - the observatory dome in particular was a PitA.
A little rough in places but I'm pretty pleased with it overall and I think it has a slightly more steampunk vibe to it than the other more medieval buildings.
This is a School Building one my colleagues at Autodesk put together using Revit Architecture.
We then re-used the data in Autodesk Inventor to develop the required mechanical\manufacturing products.
The Ben Franklin mesoscaphe, also known as the Grumman/Piccard PX-15, is a crewed underwater submersible, built in 1968. It was the brainchild of explorer and inventor Jacques Piccard. The research vessel was designed to house a six-man crew for up to 30 days of oceanographic study in the depths of the Gulf Stream. NASA became involved, seeing this as an opportunity to study the effects of long-term, continuous close confinement, a useful simulation of long space flights.
The ship was named after American Founding Father Benjamin Franklin.
DESIGN AND OPERATION
The Ben Franklin was built between 1966 and 1968 at the Giovanola fabrication plant in Monthey, Switzerland by Piccard and the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation headed by Donald B Terrana, then disassembled and shipped to Florida. The vessel is the first submarine to be built to American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) standards. With a design crush depth of 4,000 feet (1,200 m), it was designed to drift along at neutral buoyancy at depths between 600 and 2,000 feet (180 and 610 metres). The 130-ton ship has four external electric propulsion pods, primarily used for altitude trimming. It is powered by tons of lead batteries stored outside the hull. Its length is 48 feet 9 inches (14.86 m), with a beam of 21 feet 6 inches (6.55 m) and a height of 20 feet (6.1 m). Piccard insisted on 29 observation portholes, despite the objections of engineers over the inclusion of potentially fatal weak points.
It began its voyage on July 14, 1969, off Palm Beach, Florida, with Piccard as the mission leader. Accompanied by surface support vessels, it resurfaced on August 14, 1,444 miles (2,324 km) away, 300 miles (480 km) south of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Ben Franklin made a few more dives after 1969, including the first deep-sea dive for Robert Ballard, the discoverer of the wreck of the Titanic.
After running aground on a reef in 1971, the Ben Franklin was sold to Vancouver businessman John Horton, only to languish for nearly three decades on the North Shore. In December 1999, with a sudden decision to either move or scrap the submersible, it was offered to the Vancouver Maritime Museum. The Piaggio Ape (pronounced "ah-peh" - Italian for bee ) is a three-wheeled light commercial vehicle first produced in 1948 by Piaggio.
At the end of WWII, most Italians, badly affected by the war, lacked modes of transport, and more importantly, the financial means to acquire full-sized four-wheeled vehicles. In 1947 the inventor of the Vespa, aircraft designer Corradino D'Ascanio, came up with the idea of building a light three wheeled commercial vehicle to power Italy's economical reconstruction, an idea which found favour with Enrico Piaggio, the son of the firm's founder, Rinaldo. The very first Ape model and the mark immediately following it were mechanically a Vespa with two wheels added to the rear, with a flat-bed structure on top of the rear axle. In the early sale brochures and adverts the vehicle was referred to as the VespaCar or TriVespa and cost 170.000 liras. The first Apes featured 50cc, 125cc or 150cc and more recently 175cc engines. By the time of the 1964 Ape D a cab was added to protect the driver from the elements. The Ape has been in continuous production since its inception and has been produced in a variety of different body styles in Italy and India.
Controlled with scooter style handlebars, the original Ape was designed to sit one, but can accommodate a passenger (with a tight fit) in its cab. A door on each side is provided, making it quicker to get out of the vehicle when making deliveries to different sides of the road. Performance is suited to the job of light delivery, with good torque for hills but a low top speed, which is irrelevant in the urban settings for it was designed. Outside of towns Apes are customarily driven as close as possible to the curb to allow traffic to pass.
The vehicles comes in various configurations such as vans and pickups for load carrying and autorickshaw (Tuk-tuk) for human transportation. More recently Piaggio have made lifestyle models such as the Ape Cross Country and the Ape Web aimed at the young.

Autodesk Inventor Fusion has been available as a technology preview for a few years now but the 2012 version is now included with most of Autodesk geometry creation and simualtion tools.

This mouse was made for a 9th birthday present for a boy who is very into inventions, sellotape and rubber bands. I made the roll of sellotape using a thin strip of cardboard wrapped with thin strips of clear film built up to create a roll.

Giles-Forest was founded in St. Cloud France by Ferdinand Forest a prolific inventor, his first four stroke engined car was designed by him as early as 1890. The first production vehicles were horizontal single cylinder cars of 5, 9-10 and 12 hp. They ran at boiling point in order to improve their economy and were steam cooled, with a distinctive Vee shaped vertical tubed condenser at the front. Failure to update this original design resulted in the companies downfall in 1907

Tra la moltitudine di città interessate da questo nuovo percorso fotografico,emerge un prezioso itinerario che collega le diverse città in cui Guglielmo Marconi ha vissuto la sua vita.
Un nuovo viaggio fotografico, tra cui immagini che rendono omaggio al grande inventore italiano Guglielmo Marconi, padre della radio e Premio Nobel per la fisica nel 1909. Bolognese di nascita, Marconi passò molto del suo tempo nella sua casa di Cattolica. Chissà cosa penserebbe oggi, affacciato alla finestra di Villa Marconi, delle persone in spiaggia collegate a internet con computer e cellulari wireless, persone in contatto con il mondo ventiquattro ore al giorno. Su quella stessa spiaggia dove lui ha passeggiato e guardato il mare immerso nei suoi pensieri e nei suoi esperimenti. Forse tutta questa comunicazione l’avrebbe fatto sorridere, lui che fu il padre della comunicazione con telegrafia senza fili. Di una cosa però siamo sicuri, sicuramente affacciato alla finestra della sua camera, avrebbe rivolto lo sguardo all’Adriatico e avrebbe atteso uno di quei meravigliosi tramonti di Cattolica, in cui il sole diventa una palla di fuoco che scompare lentamente all’orizzonte. Uno spettacolo di colori che soltanto Lei può regalare. Attimi, si prefigge l’obiettivo di raccontare attraverso un percorso di immagini e racconti, il legame che la città romagnola conserva con il suo illustre personaggio. testo di Alessandra Fabri

Con questo nuovo libro fotografico prosegue il progetto “Amando Cattolica” e con la VI Edizione, dal titolo “Attimi, EMOZIONI NEL TEMPO INFINITO…sulle tracce di Guglielmo Marconi”, Antonio Barbieri è , ancora una volta, riuscito a catturare, nelle sue fotografie, l’anima più intima di Cattolica e dei paesaggi vicini.
L’attaccamento alla propria terra, la passione e la sensibilità artistica sono evidenziate in queste immagini che mostrano con chiarezza la trasformazione nel tempo di questo territorio, facendone riaffiorare con emozioni intese l’essenza più vera.
L’obiettivo dell’artista si allarga su scorci suggestivi di altre città italiane, cogliendone particolari che ben delineano la ricchezza artistica, culturale architettonica della nostra Italia.
Il mio particolare apprezzamento va ancora una volta rivolto a questo lavoro, alla dedizione particolare e scrupolosa con cui Antonio Barbieri ha saputo mostrate la genuinità e la semplicità di un territorio in continua evoluzione ma sempre attento a rinnovare la propria cultura dell’accoglienza.

I was recently asked a question about sharing data via Autodesk Inventors BIM Exchange tool. The question was about material consistency from one to the other.
These two screenshots show the model in Inventor with textures and colours and the same thing in Revit when opening the .adsk file into Revit.
As you can see, they both have the same colours and textures applied!

I'm working on a project with Autodesk colleagues from our Civil division and this is a concrete motorway gantry that I have put together based on the AutoCAD Civil3D road data.
This shows the geometry in Autodesk Inventor 2012 using the Image Based Lighting and Ray Tracing.

Dean Kamen is a well known American inventor.
He invented the AutoSyringe, a new type of mobile dialysis system for medical applications, the first insulin pump, and an all-terrain electric wheelchair known as the iBOT, using many of the same gyroscopic balancing technologies that later made their way into one of his best-known inventions, the Segway.
