This is one of the two illustrations I was commissioned last year to be put as cover for Molecular Cell. Too bad my client applied too late for it to be published, so at the end the second illustration (not this one) was used on the online issue.

Still I think it turned out pretty good.

For doing this I used open source 3D software Blender to design the circuit board and Corel Painter to add effects and to paint the background.
