“For me the camera is a sketch book, an instrument of intuition and spontaneity, the master of the instant which, in visual terms, questions and decides simultaneously. In order to “give a meaning” to the world, one has to feel involved in what one frames through the viewfinder. This attitude requires concentration, discipline of mind, sensitivity, and a sense of geometry. It is by economy of means that one arrives at simplicity of expression.
To take a photograph is to hold one’s breath when all faculties converge in a face of fleeing reality. It is at that moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy.
To take a photograph means to recognize – simultaneously and within a fraction of a second–both the fact itself and the rigorous organisation of visually perceived forms that give it meaning.
It is putting one’s head, one’s eye, and one’s heart on the same axis.”
~ Henri Cartier-Bresson

My intuition has always been very strong. It's a guiding force in my life. While at times it be overwhelming , it truly is a blessing.

Every now and again we drop-in at the Redland Market before sundown. My son becomes especially animated after some tacos & ice-cream and dad is ready 80% of the time to capture his more comical moments. It was actually this roll that I decided I am now only shooting HP5 at box-speed. I figure its already such a forgiving film if one misses exposure that I might as well behave and hold off from regularly pushing it.

The visible & overlooked share a deep message of the the unity of this entire existence. And, even though external forms and conditions vary the Self triumphs over matter. I am that Self, A silent observer focusing the lens of Intuition and creativity. My life is an unfurling sail of the unknown. Each day the breeze blows with a new significance.
Probably the best original Murciélago I've seen to date :O
Orange fits incredibly well on the Murciélago, plates fit well too. Love the look of the heritage plates.
Not much to say really, enjoy this shot and tell me what you think of my edit :D
This picture is something that I've been wanting to do for over a year now. So I'm glad I got a chance to work on it this week. In life, I often find I have no idea at all where I'm heading. I've felt this way many, many times this past year with all the changes in my life and when I'm really at a loss as to an important life choice I have to make I take time out to listen to my intuition. So far it hasn't let me down and the lovely thing about it that I've found is that there is so much freedom in this not knowing and heading off into the unknown. In finding myself in a place or situation that I haven't been in before and might not ever have found myself in if I'd known in advance how hard it would be. But like all things that are hard to come by they are usually very well worth it.

Been a while... sorry its been a while... hope you're all doing great...

Have a great day..
A new morning has broken, I loved the Steve Jobs speach that I heared on the radio this morning, full of interesting sound bites, he had plenty to say about death after facing it for the last few years..
"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."
Comments, faves and constructive crit., always very welcome, graphics not preferred

I don’t own a camera anymore. I sold my 5D Classic some years back (long story) and haven’t been on Flickr for a long long time. The death of Nayeem Kalam has given rise to some regrets in me. The regret of not being in touch with him more often, not taking photos anymore (I remember he was not happy at all when I decided to sell all my gears and stop) and not being in Flickr, where I made some wonderful friends including Nayeem bhai.
So I borrowed a 5D from a friend for a few days and have been trying to shoot again. I have become very rusty and my intuitions almost don’t exist anymore. I look at the photos and try to imagine what Nayeem bhai would say. May his soul rest in peace.

Today is a "big" day, it is the day I "graduate" to my superlative digital camera, with all its lenses, bells and whistles, and, especially, the remote control accessory, which cost me an arm and leg. Getting the accessory is only part of the story! I had to spend a fair amount of time figuring out how this thing works but I feel my hard worked was amply rewarded. I mean, compared to what my telehpne can capture, this is day and night. I'm so proud I got to this point? I had been thinking for a looong time about solving the "remote control" problem with this camera. The darn thing was (and still is) way too expensive. But, when I look at the result, I forget about the outrageous price... Yesterday, my wife accompanied me on St-Hubert street, an old commercial sector in Montreal, to shop for shoes. We did many stores to no avail. But finally stumbled upon these guys, which I'll put a picture of separately. They had both size 10 and 11 in stock, so I tried both sizes, size 11 first. It was clear, when I got to size 10, that only size 11 would work for my feet! Oh well, if it's size 11, so be it. So that's the story if the shoes you see in the picture. I wanted to wear a different pair of tights, I found these blue-green ones which I had not worn for a long time. I felt like wearing them whatever they would constrain me to wear, in terms of dresses. But then i thought, why not this 1942 vintage gem with its winged sleeves, front buttoned. Boy! I had the intuition that the "coral" color of the fabric would harmonize well with my tights? I don't think I was wrong but I hesitated. When I look at the "ensemble" now, I'm satisfied! Boy! This is going to be a beautiful day for Jacqueline.
When intuition and a little but of luck combine, THIS is the jaw dropping type of scene I end up coming across. It had just rained while I was out early in May, and I had been meaning to visit High Rock (near Pen Mar, MD). I went for a drive, got to the top and arrived to this. All I can say is good heavens.

We were in Madrid, killing time between flights. The door caught my attention, with the cavern-like walls behind and the green windows beyond. Stop! said my inner voice. For once, I obeyed. By the time I lifted the camera, this woman walked in. It all clicked. Only later I noticed that her shoes kinda match the windows. So...listen to your inner voice and keep your eyes open. The rest is luck.
Have a lucky weekend.
Evrerything he saw, every cliff and crag, every rock or grassy glade,he knew of old, and yet he saw them now with a new intensity.
He had trained himself never to forget any feature of the country through which he went, and now each tor, each weathered rock, was stamped on his memory like a photograph, and if he had to gallop through that photograph-escaping from either man or horse-he knew exactly where he could place each hard, strong hoof, exactly where he could leap, exactly where he could twist and run.
Smoke studies
____________
Fine art abstract of smoke arising from a burning incense stick shot in a non-studio open environment on 35mm film using a 50mm lens. - Smoke was totally spontaneous, without being guided or intervened by any object whatsoever, and its formation as it appears is totally free of any digital manipulation whatsoever.
This is smoke from a lit up incense stick placed in direct sunlight against a blackish background. No manipulation, either in guiding the smoke, or during post processing. All as it happened, in its natural form.
My little experience from this reveals that it takes much vigilance, attention, focus, and above all.... patience. All in all, quite a taxing endeavour.
Shooting it on film means there is no immediate image review after the exposure is over, which makes it even more challenging.
