A dramatic aurora burst above Iceland's Vestrahorn mountain on the Stokksnes peninsula. Views like this really make you stop and think about your (tiny) place in the universe. I was but one speck of light under a canopy of millions of stars and an explosion of electromagnetic energy. Humbling to say the least.

Andrzej sits in his kitchen, surrounded by the quiet decay of everyday life. The mug with “Mazury 2008” printed on it isn’t a souvenir. It’s just something that stayed — like everything else that once meant something and now simply remains. Steam drifts from it slowly, the only thing still moving in a room long emptied of air and purpose. This is Andrzej’s world in its purest form: one long, tired breath suspended between yesterday and oblivion.

As sunset approached i studied this crow as it sat on the rim of the birdbath. It was unconcerned about my presence, though about 15 feet away, taking its picture. The quiet at the end of the day, the warmth of early evening, the stillness in the air had a calming effect on myself and this beautiful crow.

This crow remained behind as its fellows flew away to their roost for the evening. I went back into the house, leaving this quiet scene to the crow to enjoy.

Les errements de l’âme

Cette série réalisée dans la forêt du Touquet Paris-Plage.

Divagation du photographe ?

Introspection ?

Très certainement un peu de tout ça.

Il est bon de laisser son âme errer, chercher.

This series made in the forest of Touquet Paris-Plage.

Photographer's drift?

Introspection ?

Most certainly a little bit of all of this.

It is good to let his soul wander, seek.

through the lens, this moment captures the essence of solitude in an urban jungle. the stark contrast of the monochrome palette mirrors the sharp lines of the architecture, as if the city itself is drawing a path to nowhere. the two figures, barely more than silhouettes, seem to be mere echoes of each other, drifting apart yet connected by the reflection on the glass. there’s a sense of distance, both physical and emotional, as they tread towards the vanishing point, each carrying the weight of their journeys. this bridge over landsberger straße in münchen, typically bustling with life, now becomes a stage for introspection—a quiet pause amidst the city’s relentless pace.

These days I spend more time on reflection and introspection. It is just part of the 8 stage of life.

This Little Blue Heron demonstrates one technique I guess.

As the days grow shorter, nature's pace slows, urging introspection and gratitude for life's fleeting beauty. Harvest festivals abound, celebrating the abundance of the land. In this season of change, we find solace in the rhythm of falling leaves, a reminder that even in endings, there is grace and the promise of renewal.

Iceland's vastness reflects best what I am longing for most: space, solitude, quietness, time for introspection and communion with nature ... a time to pick up of myself what "society" has left ...

My first photo of this monkey on this branch was just over 11 years ago, when each of us had a snazzier mustache.

The rain drummed steadily against the window, turning the street outside into a watercolor blur. Marqs sat at a corner table, his fingers curled around a coffee cup, savoring the warmth it offered. His plaid shirt still carried the dampness of the storm, the tattoo on his forearm glimpsing out like fragments of an untold story.

The cafe hummed with life, a neon sign casting a subtle glow over the room. A chalkboard advertised lunch specials that no one seemed to notice, while the barista behind the counter worked with fluid precision, his movements almost hypnotic in their rhythm.

Marqs' gaze drifted to the window, where raindrops traced erratic paths down the glass. He followed them absently, his mind quieter now than it had been in days. There was something about the small cafe—the muted chatter, the hum of the espresso machine, the rain-softened world outside—that pressed gently against the tension he carried.

This moment of stillness wasn’t a solution, and he knew it. But it was something—a space to breathe, a pause in the noise. He let it be enough for now.

Une posture se replie,

son écho glisse dans l’ombre.

Entre les deux, un silence tenu.

A posture folds inward,

its echo drifting into shadow.

Between them, a held silence.

Harmony in Stillness captures the serene essence of life’s quiet moments. The peaceful twilight forest, mirrored perfectly on the still waters, speaks to the balance and tranquility we seek in our own lives. The gentle gliding of ducks, accompanied by the ducklings, symbolizes the rhythm of togetherness and the unspoken support that sustains us through life’s journey.

This reminds us to find harmony amidst life’s chaos, to embrace the stillness that allows us to reflect and grow. Just as the twilight gently fades into night, life is a series of transitions, and within each lies a beauty waiting to be discovered. The scene inspires peace, introspection, and the quiet strength that arises when we let ourselves simply be.
