Op vrijdag 3 december 2021 om 14.30 uur kun je genieten van de voorstelling Edith door les Triadours. Edith Piaf is een vrouw met veel facetten. Dat merk je als je de teksten van pakweg ‘Milord’, ‘Rien de Rien’ of ‘Hymne à l’amour’ bestudeert. Dat het niet altijd ‘La vie en rose’ was ook. Ze was een vrouw op zoek naar passie, liefde en geluk. Een zangeres die haar houvast in de muziek zocht en maar één ding wilde: zingen! Wat je niet uit haar nummers kan halen is minstens even fascinerend.
Mireille Vaessen dook in de brieven, interviews en films van Edith Piaf en puurde er deze muzikale voorstelling uit. Mireille Vaessen speelde muziektheater voor jong en oud en zingt al heel haar leven in verschillende genres. Van jazz, blues en soul tot echte rock ’n roll. Vol overgave vertelt ze hier een verhaal van armoede en hoop, passie en verdriet, succes en ongeluk, maar altijd doorspekt met die onsterfelijke chansons. Ze laat zich muzikaal bijstaan door Sam Pasternas op piano, gitaar en viool.

We ran into Cullman native and the nation’s oldest living U.S. Marine, Roy Drinkard.
In this interview, Mr. Drinkard covers a wide range of topics including his love for giant sausage fajitas followed up with a Peinhardt fried pie, his donation of a mint condition 1930’s era horse drawn funeral hearse to Peinhardt Living History Farm and the philanthropic work he is currently engaged in on behalf of Troy University.
Last weekend, Mr. Drinkard was honored along with a handful of other military veterans at mid-field during the Trojans football game. Roy engages in a bit of well-earned Troy Trojan trashing talking during this interview as well.
For new residents to Cullman, Roy Drinkard’s endeavors as a businessman, community leader, and philanthropist are well documented. Roy is affectionately known in many circles as ‘Mr. Cullman’.
According to Mr. Drinkard, he has been honored by the Pentagon as the oldest still living Marine. Roy is 96 years young.
He currently acts as president and CEO of Drinkard Development, Inc.
His company provides management, leasing and maintenance services for commercial properties and shopping centers across the southeastern United States. This includes multiple properties in Cullman, including the King Edward Plaza Shopping Center on Second Avenue SW.
