It’s a company called Philly Compost. What they do is organic trash. So anything you can put in your mouth or anything that can compost, they take, they’ll put into a field, mix it with dirt and leaves and then resell it as compost. WHAT ARE YOU PICKING UP TODAY IN CHESTNUT HILL HERE? Today, Tavern on the Hill is a local restaurant. I’ll get two cans off of them, all their restaurant waste, lettuce heads, anything gone sour or leftover from a plate after a customer ate it … So this is the back of Tavern on the Hill. This is our logo, ‘In Soil We Trust’ WHAT DO THEY GOT IN THERE? Hopefully green bags. These green bags are compostable. There’s napkins, banana peels are great, carrots, paper. IT LOOKS LIKE THERE’S SOME CHICKEN BONES TOO. CAN YOU COMPOST THAT? Anything organic, anything that will break down is fine. We can’t take plastic, metal, Styrofoam. WHO’S PAYING WHO TO TAKE THIS AWAY? There’s two advantages. One if I’m a restaurant and I say to my patrons “Hey, I’m reducing trash that’s going into a landfill by separating it out and composting it, that’s a benefit to the environment. The second thing is, now I’m reducing what I pay in my dumpster so my trash costs go down. DO THEY PAY YOU A FEE TO TAKE IT? They pay us, they do a monthly thing and then per can. AND IT’S LESS THAN PUTTING IN A DUMPSTER? Ideally, yes. And we pay to dump it and that guy’s making money when it’s dumped and when he sells the compost. Jason Hopler, Philly Compost.

Eloise: foi muito feliz e mágica

2 - Se você pudesse voltar no tempo e mudar alguma coisa, o que seria?

Eloise: talvez pudesse adiar minha saída do mundo mágico em que vivia, mas fui eu que escolhi vir para cá aprender mais sobre esse mundo, mas se eu tivesse o poder de mudar algo, traria meu amado comigo.

3 - Quanto você pesa?

Eloise: sou levíssima como uma pluma, consigo até flutuar!

4 - Alguma vez você já amou e perdeu?

Eloise: meu amor continua lá no mundo mágico, mas eu não perdi, ele me espera ♥

5 - O que você faz para ganhar a vida e por quê?

Eloise: como eu sou mágica e encantada não preciso fazer nada para ganhar a vida, mas para salvar as aparências eu faço doces e bolos (encantados – isso é segredo) por encomenda

6 - Que tipo de música você gosta?

Eloise: gosto de músicas lentas, que acalmam, mais instrumentais, músicas que me transportam ao meu mundo original

7 - Quantos anos você tem?

Eloise: originalmente não tenho idade, no meu mundo não se conta essa passagem de tempo, apesar de ser ainda nova lá, mas aqui, pela minha aparência, seriam uns 20 e poucos anos.

8 - Qual é a coisa mais irritante do mundo?

Eloise: o barulho que me atrapalha qdo estou querendo meditar, esse mundo é muito barulhento

9 - Qual é a sua palavra favorita?

Eloise: união

10 - Você tem algum hobby interessante?

Eloise: adoro observar as pessoas, vim para cá para aprender sobre elas, também adoro observar a natureza, acho que é o que esse mundo tem de melhor e me recorda o meu mundo.

11 - Qual é a coisa mais romântica que alguém já fez por você?

Eloise: foi meu amado me dizer que espera por mim e que nosso amor é eterno

12 - Como você relaxa no final de um longo dia?

Eloise: meditando com uma música bem suave que me conecta com outra dimensão, com o meu mundo

13 - Você tem obsessões?

Eloise: quero aprender o máximo que eu puder

14 - Qual é a sua nacionalidade?

Eloise: então, eu venho de um mundo mágico e encantado que existe em outro plano, outra dimensão, mas como eu apareci aqui para minha jornada por este mundo, posso dizer que sou brasileira.

15 - Que idiomas você fala?

Eloise: o idioma que eu quiser, afinal sou mágica né!

16 - Se você pudesse ter qualquer animal de estimação no mundo, o que seria?

Eloise: um tigre, ele é um animal selvagem, mas comigo qualquer animal fica dócil.

17 - Qual é a coisa mais aleatória que você se encontra fazendo todos os dias?

Eloise: me perco em meus pensamentos, entro em uma espécie de transe e qdo percebo estou levitando!

18 - Favoritos, rápido, vai! Livro, filme, jogo, bebida, cor?

Eloise: gosto de livros e histórias mágicas, adoro o livro que a mamis acabou de ler e me emprestou: O nome do vento; filmes e jogos eu não aprecio pois não tenho tempo para eles e nos jogos eu sempre ganho pois tenho muita habilidade para aprender rápido e assim as pessoas ficam bravas; bebida: chá de frutas; cor: azul, amo a cor do céu

19 - Qual é a coisa mais sentimental que você possui e por quê?

Eloise: não posso ter nada material do meu mundo aqui, mas gosto muito das fotos que a minha mamis desse mundo tira de mim com minhas “irmãs”, nós somos muito unidas.

20 - Você está em um relacionamento?

Eloise: sim

21 - Qual foi a sua pior lesão?

Eloise: uma vez qdo eu estava passeando no jardim, fiquei tão distraída com os pássaros que tropecei num buraco e torci o tornozelo

22 - O que te assusta mais?

Eloise: não conseguir aprender tudo sobre as pessoas e compreender suas atitudes, principalmente as atitudes que estão destruindo o mundo em que elas vivem.

23 - Algo que a maioria das pessoas não sabe sobre você?

Eloise: que sou encantada e que hipnotizo com meu olhar.

24 - Você tem algum animal de estimação?

Eloise: não, não me deixam trazer um tigre para casa

The Full Dollar project is a collaboration Departures, Outpost for Contemporary Art artist-in-residence Xavier Andrade and a team Occidental College media art students, who will examine the tradition of fine art and hand-painted signs in the north east neighborhood of Los Angeles, Highland Park. The project culminates in the fall with a revitalization effort to generate fixtures of artwork on select storefronts on York Boulevard led by Andrade’s Full Dollar Collection, five groups of sign painters, contemporary visual artists and business owners.
