Hello Everyone!

The Ram's Head Lady Slipper is very small, about the size of the end of my thumb. They are tough to spot because of their diminutive size and because they easily camouflage into the forest setting. These native orchids are rare and are found specifically within coniferous forests and bogs. This was found along the Brokenhead Wetland Interpretive Trail which is found within the boreal forest about an hour's drive north of Winnipeg. This native orchid is listed as "of special concern" in every state and province for which it occurs.

Thank you so much for stopping by and for your comments. I do love hearing from you! Have a wonderful day and weekend!

It is a real problem, is it not? How can we come to an understanding of this utterly diverse and complicated world whilst sitting in the particularity of our home? It is true that the media, from newspapers to TV and social media, offer us a daily digest of selected information. We would, I sincerely hope, critically examine these news and think for ourselves. However, even so, we would have to deal with the selective nature of the information. We never see "the whole picture". Our knowledge, even at the best of times, is necessarily fragmentary. It is absolutely important to be aware of this limitation - it is one of the virtues that make us human.

I am saying this because AI is on the march. AI has never ever left its ivory tower, it never "left home". It never made any experiences. AI has not seen anything. It does not know how to suffer. What it does is to harvest and (often illegally) exploit printed or published materials, information it has neither created nor even collected. It does not know what it does not know. And yet AI will come up with explanations and scenarios that are untroubled by any kind of self-doubt. AI does not know when it is peddling false information. AI will interpret the world whilst staying at its "home" and will not even be aware of it. Leica M8 plus Voigtlaender 35/1.4 at approx. F8.

View of Banff, the Bow Valley and a 360 degree view of six scenic mountain ranges from 2281m (7486ft) above sea level. You will feel like you're on top of the world when you are standing on the spacious main level observation deck, where the optional Banff Skywalk (an 1km self-guided interpretive walkway) leads you to the Cosmic Ray Station National Historic Site and Sanson's Peak Meteorological Station.

There are 8 of these, recording Guru's interpretive dance, performed between the screen and the window panes.

Jackie chooses to interpret songs, which have a tinge of subliminal sexiness. This photo was taken when she sung a tribute to Miss Debbie, who preferred similar risqué repertoire, and who was a regular at Grossman's, before she passed on few years ago. Jackie trombone playing is in demand and she plays in several groups including her own quartet. A public performer, but she is a very private person. She not only a kind soul, very smart (university prof), but also quite fun to be around.

A black bear comes over the hill. I knew he was coming because of the alarm calls from the birds.

Work created during an open-air sculpture symposium.

The Sprimont symposium is designed as a sculpture meeting, not a competition. The aim is to allow established international artists to work together in a friendly atmosphere, while benefiting from maximum technical resources. In order to guarantee the quality of the works produced, candidates must however present their work as well as a preliminary project in order to be selected by a jury.

Since 1994, the sculpture symposium has taken place every year at the end of the summer.

There was some sort of interpretive dance going on here. I'm not sure what it meant, but it probably had something to do with getting Jeremy to crack up laughing.

One of literally 1500 photos taken on our road trip to Death Valley last week. I'll try to weed it down, but it takes so long just to get through them all.
