U.S Army Sgt. 1st Class Micki Bryant of the Louisiana National Guard Alpha Co. 199 Brigade Support Battalion out of Colfax, La., is the non-commissioned officer (NCO) in charge of the “Mayor Cell,” or a support element, at Adazi Military Training Area near Latvia, during Saber Strike 2014. The Mayor Cell is where all personnel and supply information is accumulated and filed in reports. The Mayor Cell acts as a liaison between U.S. and multinational troops to disseminate information, as well as ensuring all supply issues are taken care of for U.S. troops. The primary purpose of the exercise, and specifically the Mayor Cell’s role, is to build rapport and understanding with the other countries to advance working relationships in the future.

Saber Strike 2014 is a joint, multinational military exercise scheduled from June 9 - 20, 2014. The exercise spans multiple locations in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, and involves approximately 4,500 personnel from 10 countries. The exercise is designed to promote regional stability, strengthen international military partnerships, enhance multinational interoperability and prepare participants for worldwide contingency operations. VHF, UHF and microwave antennas for public safety voice communications and mobile data terminals (MDT).

Radio Center houses transmitters and repeaters for the City of Rochester and Monroe County, NY Police, Fire, EMS and other public safety agencies. It is located on Cobbs Hill (640 ft above sea level).

City Police, County Sheriff and town PDs are using about 30 P25 digital UHF channels.

City and County Fire using VHF, County EMS is VHF.

No 9-1-1 dispatching is done from this location, it is a primary transmitter site and radio installation/repair shop only.

NY State Troopers, NY Dept of Environmental Conservation (law enforcement division), medical examiners, probation and state university police have access to this system for interoperability.

U.S. Marines and sailors and soldiers from the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force participate in Exercise Iron Fist 2014 aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., Jan. 23 to Feb. 24, 2014. Iron Fist is an amphibious exercise that brings together Marines and sailors from the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, other I Marine Expeditionary Force units, and soldiers from the JGSDF, to promote military interoperability and hone individual and small-unit skills through challenging, complex and realistic training.
