The Theatre Equipment Support Battalion recently held an Interoperability Exercise (IOX) at Camp Bastion, Afghanistan. It was a high profile event attended by UK, U.S, Danish, and Estonian participants and by members of the Afghan National Army (ANA).
The exercise demonstrated how vehicles are recovered during Combat Logistic Patrols (CLPs) in the event of breakdown, being bogged down or being disabled by enemy action. CLP’s are often a multi-national affair; hence the requirement to recover vehicles is essential. This exercise was an opportunity to demonstrate multi-national procedures and ensure compliance between the different nations.

USARAF hosted the annual Gender Mainstreaming Seminar in Tanzania in May of this year and will conduct the African Land Forces Summit and the Eastern Accord 16 exercise in Tanzania next year. These visits help build partnerships over time and across echelons, the key concept behind USARAF's African Horizons strategy. .

Over 1,300 Sailors, Marines, Soldiers, Airmen and women played a major role in the pomp and ceremony that is part of the State Opening of Parliament.
The State Opening of Parliament is one of the most colourful events in the London Ceremonial calendar when all elements of the Army’s Household Division, and other elements of the Armed Forces, line the streets and escort the Crown Jewels and Her Majesty The Queen’s procession from Buckingham Palace to the House of Lords.
The State Opening marks the formal start of the next parliamentary session. The primary purpose of this tradition is to set out the government's legislative agenda to both Houses of Parliament in the Queen's Speech.
In honour of the State Opening, a Royal Salute of 41 guns was fired by the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery in Green Park, and by the Honourable Artillery Company at the Tower of London.
Military personnel were on show in a variety of ceremonial roles including a Regalia Escort, Sovereign’s Escort and staircase liners from The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment. The streets on the processional route were lined with street liners from the Royal Navy, the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, Nijmegan Company Grenadier Guards, Number 7 Company Coldstream Guards, F Company Scots Guards, Balaclava Company 5 SCOTS The Royal Regiment of Scotland, and the Royal Air Force. Musical accompaniment at various locations was provided by The Band of the Royal Marines, The Band of the Household Cavalry, The Band of the Coldstream Guards, The Band of the Scots Guards, The Band of the Welsh Guards and the Band of the Royal Air Force.
At the Palace of Westminster, 1st Battalion Welsh Guards provided a Large Guard of Honour commanded by Major Chris Davies, and bearing The Queen’s Colour. The Rifles Regiment provided the Queen’s Guard at Buckingham Palace.
