Messier 66 (M66), the brightest and largest member of the Leo Triplet of galaxies, is an intermediate spiral galaxy located in Leo constellation. The galaxy lies at a distance of about 36 million light years from Earth and has an apparent magnitude of 8.9. It has the designation NGC 3627 in the New General Catalogue.
Messier 66 has a diameter of about 95,000 light years. It can be seen in the same field of view as its neighbours M65 and NGC 3628. M66 is separated from M65 by only 200,000 light years.
The Leo Triplet can be found between the stars Theta and Iota Leonis, or along the line from the bright star Denebola to Regulus, the brightest star in Leo.
In this picture M66 is the leftmost of the two Messier galaxies in the group.
The Leo Triplet is also known as the M66 Group, which consists of M66, M65, NGC 3628 and possibly two other galaxies. M66 is notable for its outstanding dark dust lanes and bright starburst regions along the spiral arms.
Gravitational interaction with the nearby galaxies Messier 65 and NGC 3628 has significantly affected M66. The galaxy’s past encounter with NGC 3628 has resulted in an extremely high central mass concentration, asymmetrical spiral arms and an interstellar cloud composed of neutral atomic hydrogen – removed from one of the galaxy’s spiral arms. As a result, the galaxy appears to have a conspicuous and unusual structure of spiral arms and dust lanes. The distorted, hooked spiral arms appear displaced above the plane of the galaxy’s disk.

CaMLA Young Learners Tests of English (YLTE) are a fun and motivating way to test the English of young learners in the primary and middle grades. The tests cover all four language skills and are developed by CaMLA in association with Cambridge ESOL.
The tests provide a clear and transparent assessment from Bronze (beginner) through Silver to Gold (early intermediate). The tests are international, focusing on American English. Of primary importance is that the testing experience have a positive impact on children and on their subsequent language learning.

The "mistress of the house and chantress of Amun-Re," Henettawy died, still in her twenties, during a time of political change (the so-called Third Intermediate Period). This was a period when the art of coffin decoration was at its height.
Henettawy's main burial equipment consisted of two splendid coffins and an innermost mummy lid, fitting one into the other like parts of a Russian doll. Both coffins and the innermost lid are shaped like wrapped mummies with elaborate masks fastened over the heads. The decoration of the lid of the outer coffin reflects royal coffins of an earlier age, which had gold masks and gold arm covers, mummy covers of precious materials such as gold inlaid with glass and semiprecious stones, and faience bead netting. The head and upper body on Henettawy's outer coffin features a wig adorned with floral fillets, an immense floral broad collar with Horus-head terminals, bracelets, armlets, rings, and rosette ear ornaments.

Exercise ARRCADE SNOWMASTER 2015
Day 6 - Intermediate Group
In this image: Exercise participants have been fine tuning their skills in excellent weather on the Stubaier Glacier.
Ex ARRCADE SNOWMASTER is a winter training exercise for multinational Officers and Soldiers of Headquarters Allied Rapid Reaction Corps. Its takes place in the Stubaital Valley region of Austria and combines ski training with the theory of working in wintry, snowy conditions.
Deploying in two separate groups, with each group spending a week skiing and learning about how to keep safe in harder winter conditions that we expect in the UK.
The groups were split down further into smaller groups depending on ability, they then spent the week learning to ski or further honing their skills.
Those on skis for the first time worked towards a Ski Foundation One qualification, which included elements of avalanche training, navigation and medical briefs.
Adventure Training (AT) is encouraged throughout the military as a way of enhancing team work, inspiring confidence and pushing individual comfort zones. It is provides a change to the usual physical fitness sessions normally conducted by personnel.
