Intention - attract attention to the nail through it being the only horizontal lines in a multitude of vertical lines
Reference to the reading - vertical lines and horizontal lines together create an equilibrium. Freeman
Outcome - I really like the colors implemented in this and the attraction the single nail brings. I dislike the color behind it being different
Edits - brought up the clarity and texture to really see the lines in the wood
Intention: I saw the many different hills and section of the land and figured it would make an interesting photo
Reference: Duchemin “diagonal lines give energy to the frame”
Outcome: the diagonal hills and sections of brown give the grass a unique pattern and create energy in the photo
Edits: I added clarity and texture along with increasing the saturation and vibrancy. I decreased the shadows a bit so the trees in the background would show up
Intention: I wanted to include a second cloud photo because I thought this one was a nice contrast to the gloomy storm cloud photo. Here I wanted to create a bright, calming photo.
Reading: Here I implemented the concept of color palette. I really just wanted mainly light blue and yellowish tones in this.
Outcome: I thought the spaced out fluffy clouds successfully created the look I was going for. I also think that the even spacing of these clouds creates a calming effect that the stormy cloud scene does not have.
Edits: I cropped slightly, lowered exposure, and adjusted color slightly.
intention: a documentary photo featuring the sign and the reflection
outcome: met my expectations
edits: local white point adjustment to top half, white balance, increase contrast, increase highlights, lower shadows, decrease whites, increase blacks, increase texture, increase clarity, lower dehaze, sharpen, noise reduction, color noise reduction, geometry
Intention: Complexity (Photographers choice)
Reference: Photographer's eye- "Focal length determines much of the geometry of the image, and can deeply affect its character"
Outcome: The subjects in this image make the frame complex to look at.
Edit: Here I only increased the contrast a little bit.

For this image, my intention was to capture the pond as my minimalism. What makes this image minimalism is the reflection on the water showing the trees, skies, etc reflecting. Overall I’m satisfied what’s the outcome and results to the image. I believe i’ve captured some good coloring to this image and the sharpness to it. For the edits exposure -24, contrast -7, highlights -71, Shadows 76, white, Black 7, clarity 50, dehaze 40 vibrance 30, unsaturation at 9.
Intention/Technical: The intention of this image was to shoot for a black and white image with some color contrast.
Reference to the reading: Lesson 50 of the Duchemin text discusses exploring possibilities. The idea for this shot was something that I was considering when shooting for abstracts last week, but I repurposed it and changed some things around with the composition to make it fit for a nice black and white image with color contrast. Making small adjustments to an image like this can completely change the type of shot that the end product is.
Outcome: The color contrast and lines make for a visually interesting image.
Edits: This image was edited to be black and white, as well as some use of the spot healing brush.

My intention for this project was to produce a photo sequence of images that represent fashion decades, through using long exposures, i feel this gave a message that fashion trends start to slowly fade and change into something completely new and different.

Talk Title: The Geography of Inequality
Intention: To accentuate the industrial nature of the steel beams under the bridge.
Reference: Duchemin Lesson 19; Try It Black and White
Outcome: I really like the way this image turned out, especially in black and white.
Edit: I decreased the highlights and whites, while increasing the shadows and blacks. Obviously, I made the image black and white.
Intention/Technical: The intention of this image was to shoot a minimalist subject.
Reference to the reading: Lesson 51 of the Duchemin text is titles "Get Closer, See Differently." I've used the ideas presented in this lesson many times over this course and this image is an example of that.
Outcome: While this image has a lot of texture, the subject and lines/shapes/colors are simple enough to keep it from being too complex of an image.
Edits: This image was cropped and edited for texture and vibrancy.
Intention: My intention for this photo was to create an old Hollywood feel. I used the visual weight concept of text to achieve this.
Reading: From the lecture videos this week I wanted to use the concept of multiple visual weight techniques. In this photo I wanted to use both text and contrasting colors to give the building visual weight
Outcome:I like how this photo turned out over all. I also like how the shadow from the sign creates some interest.
Edits: I cropped the image, warmed up the hue of the building and the sky, took out a power line and did some brightness adjustments. I also added a little but of grain.

Talk Title: What I Learned About Life from Death
Intention/Technical/ The goal in this image was to emphasize the environment by front light via clouds making the light “larger”.
Reference to the reading/In Chapter 4, Freeman says “Lines and shapes also have an effect in proportion to how distinct they are, and ultimately this comes down to tonal and/or color relationships. These are the spectral components of design.”
Outcome/ The building is evenly lit alongside the rest of the street, painting a clearer portrait of the street corner.
Edits/ Cropped, adjusted levels.
My intention for this photo was to capture a focused foreground with a blurred motion water. DuChemin mentions the importance of sketching and being"open to the process of not getting it right the first time (25). I knew I wanted a shot with blurred motion water, but I experimented with different angles and locations within the woods. I am happy with how this photo turned out; I like how the shape of the foreground directs the viewers focus to the water, and I also like the heavy contrast of the two grounds. The edits I used were sharpening the photo, adjusting the exposure and brightness, and adding a black and white filter.
