At 160 metres tall, the Capital Gate building may not be the tallest building in the Emirates, or even Abu Dhabi. But in a city famed for ambitious projects, it is by far the biggest architectural accomplishment. Tilting 18° westward, the Capital Gate has over four times as much lean as the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The 35 storey structure includes a cantilevered tea lounge and open air pool deck, as well as Abu Dhabi’s first Hyatt hotel, ‘The Hyatt@Capital Centre’. The tower’s external lighting minimises light pollution whilst optimising energy consumption, with a net of compact LED clusters integrated into the façade’s design. The Capital Gate sits on an intensive distribution of 490 piles, drilled 30 metres underground to accommodate the gravitational, wind and seismic forces caused by the building’s distinctive lean. Inter-connected with the thriving Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the tower is one of a group of 23 towers including branded hotels, commercial buildings, residential and serviced apartment complexes and developments for mixed use. The Capital gate was the first building in the world to use a pre-cambered core, with a built-in lean of 350 millimetres engineered to straighten with the addition of the upper floors. It is this same standard of innovation that has come to define the UAE; an oasis of intelligent design built in supposedly inhospitable conditions.

Gli allevamenti intensivi sono responsabili di inquinamento ambientale, inquinamento delle falde acquifere, zoonosi, antibiotico-resistenza. Inoltre, causano un consumo eccessivo di risorse terrestri essenziali: acqua e suolo. Gli animali vi conducono una breve vita senza alcun riguardo per la loro etologia. Il benessere animale non è compatibile con il profitto: diventa vegan!
Intensive farming is responsible for environmental pollution, groundwater pollution, zoonoses and antibiotic resistance. Furthermore, they cause excessive consumption of essential terrestrial resources: water and soil. The animals lead a short life there without any regard for their ethology. Animal welfare is not compatible with profit: go vegan!

Intensive Care
A birth. So many doctors in the room over by the newborn baby, only one finishing with the mother. The father, over by the baby, with a terrible look on his face.
The mother is taken to her room. So tired from the long ordeal and drugs, yet confused as to why the baby is not in the room with her, as is the usual custom now.
She is alone, as if everyone has forgotten about her. She calls the nurse to see what is happening and is told that they do not have any information nor do they know where her husband is.
And then the doctor comes in, grim, to tell her two babies had died in intensive care so things were a bit hectic at the moment. He also told her that her baby was also sick and in intensive care. That was where her husband was, with the then unnamed baby. They would try to get information to her soon, but with the other deaths, it was difficult right now.
The mother cried, only heard the word kidney. The doctor gave her a shot and put her to sleep. ©Teag Mcgillivary

In June 1992, the new Eurosprinter S 252001-3 destinated to the spanish AVE services was intensively tested by the SNCB/NMBS. Reason of these tests was the preparation of the future purchase of new electric locomotives. At the end of the purchase process, SNCB/NMBS and CFL however decided to place the order at Alstom.
On 17 June 1992, the S 252001-3 is hauling a test train from Gent to Kortrijk. This train is arriving at De Pinte.
