It didn't take them long at all to put in insulation. The plumbing and electricity took four men all day. This house has it's own little surprises. The cooktop wiriing came into the bathroom under the tub and had to be taken out. We did gain a few inces taking out the old cast iron plumbing stack.

It's not often that I see such a clear illustration of what happens when insulation is missing above a ceiling.
Top centre is a lampshade. On the left is a tall wardrobe with some stuffies on top. Above that ... Well, the dark areas are cold, and really tell their own story. Above the plasterboard ceiling is a void that runs mist of the length of the spine of the house and it has no insulation between the plasterboard and the felt underneath the slates. So any heat vanishes quite quickly!

Stik-Ons are 12-gauge steel insulation pins that are permanently staked through 2” x 2" galvanized steel base plates. A pressure sensitive adhesive backing provides a permanent bond between the Stik-Ons and ductwork. Each case includes self-locking companion clips. Stik-Ons also have 2 clearance holes in the baseplate that allow further reinforcement with a #8 self-tapping screw when needed. They can be used to hold all low- and medium-density insulation and insulation board where the temperature will not exceed 150°F (65°C).
