My favourites - Hummels from East-friesia, Sweden, France and USA - the Dulcimer.

She's been playing it for 1½ years now. They get classes twice a week after school.

SARATOGA, CA - January 20, 2019: The California Concerto Gala Concert at West Valley College Theatre.

Probably the best part - this wall can pretty much teach you the difference between two seemingly identical guitars, and lets you listen to the difference. The headphones are (obviously) of a very good quality, as the demonstration of the Staccato Thunderhorns (google it!) was fantastic.

The Markneukirchen Musical Instrument Museum has been situated since 1942 in the Paulus-Schlössel, a townsman’s home of the late baroque period, built in 1784. With over 3100 musical instruments from all over the world, the Museum houses resources unequaled on its scale, of interest to both amateurs and specialists. The many forms of the musical instruments, the richness of ideas, and the craftsmanship of the instrument makers fascinate the beholder. The museum was founded in 1883 through a trade society at the initiative of the teacher and organist Paul Apian-Bennewitz, who was anxious to create an educational establishment for musical instrument makers. There are numerous instruments which document the development of instrument making in the region of Vogtland as well as all over the world. Some interesting curiosities illustrate the bountiful skills of the instrument makers. Thus, one can see a tuba with a1.02 m daiameter bell an overall length of 4.65 m. www.museum-markneukirchen.de

Showing 802 miles... in 8 years. Nice. The last 90 have been since we brought her home 6 days ago.

Since the speedometer is broken I figured I might as well install a tach so I can at least estimate it. Plus tachometers are cool. Please note the pirate warning light in the left-hand cluster. Oh yeah, the horn cover fell off, but the horn doesn't work anyway. I installed a button (underneath the pirate light) to run the horn until I get the gumption (and parts) to make the horn work properly again.

On the shelf is a loup (above "SEAR") used with the black snow crystal screen leaning against the back panel to identify snow crystals. Also visible are a weigh scale used to calculate snow density and to the right, a white (tube device) rain gauge. Pictured at centre is a SEAR collapsible ruler used to measure snow depth and snow layers within a snow study pit.

Meteorological data obtained is evaluated alongside snow characteristic data and interpreted by Parks Canada staff to produce daily avalanche forecasts and bulletins.

Harry Partch was an American composer, music theorist, and creator of musical instruments. He was also one of the first 20th-century composers in the West to work systematically with microtonal scales. He built custom-made instruments in these tunings on which to play his compositions, and described his theory and practice in his book "Genesis of a Music".

Back in the fall of 2013, I had the opportunity to visit the Partch Studio at Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ to take some photos of these fascinating instruments.
