A number of the buildings in Bannack, Montana have furnishings and a nice ranger took us on an impromptu tour, a perfect opportunity to test out the D800 under more challenging low light conditions with a series of handheld shots. I felt bad for the guy in our little group lugging around a Hasselblad and big tripod. When I commented that it was too bad he didn't have better low light performance, he said that was true but at least he had 12.5 stops of dynamic range. I didn't have the heart to tell him the D800 has 14.4 stops ;-).

One from a nice evening out with my mate Paul. It's always great to catch up but especially good as there was no pressure to produce something as I already had my shot for today in the bag.
Lit behind Paul from tripod 1, lens cap on, swapped from the Samyang 50mm to the Tokina 11/16. Swapped tripods and created the silhouette in Chee Tor tunnel number ii using the Chinese beast. Single long lens swapped exposure using a cwb and minor adjustments in Lightroom.
Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis, Minnesota from the inside. Many things were working against my capturing the perfect shot. First, the trek up and into the Falls was anything but easy primarily because my running shoes were not ideal for climbing natural ice sculptures, it was very cold and my toes were frozen not quite as much as this natural waterfall but not far off either, on more than one occasion having stepped through the softer areas and into the pooled water below, and the police arrived to usher out the crowd who conveniently ignored or didn't see the no trespassing sign hanging at the base of the falls (ignorance indeed is bliss). But as treacherous as the journey may have been for an unprepared southern boy, the beauty from the inside was well worth the slippery climb. The falls are not quite completely solid ice yet but will be in short order. Had I been as nimble as I once was, and as tolerant of sub-zero climes, I may have hung in to get the best capture but as it was, this had to suffice.
Foxes are extremely adaptable and are found everywhere in the world, from deserts to the Arctic Circle (The book of animal ignorance, 2007). I found this one hiding in Goldney Hall, Bristol, UK

My insider tip for trucks from AZ, this gas station on the outskirts of Leipzig. After all, 4x already I could see one resting there. Otherwise, AZ is very rare on the highways on which I am traveling.

From inside the Lloydsbuilding. I still have so many Open House pictures to go through. I am not as happy with this one as I could be as I wouldhave liked to have been more central between the two pillars. However, it was very busy and getting exactly where you wanted to be could be quite difficult

In a town somewhere in Hungary with historical and cultural value we discovered one of the most beautiful ballrooms of the whole country. As one of the few cinemas in the region, this used to be the center of attraction for art lovers and the youth. The last screening, however, was already ten years ago and since then the stately theater has been rotting away at a rapid pace. Lately, it has become an insider’s tip of the local urbex community. We were one of the first international photographers when we explored this place. It’s hard to believe that such an architecturally impressive structure lies forgotten within the city center. As the last visitors of the theater we’re trying to bring history to life and show you the beauty of decay.

Fire salamander (Salamandra salamandra) at refuge. I saw this individual for several nights inside the hole. This refuge was being used simultaneously by a female of Marbled newt (Triturus marmoratus: a case of interspecific refuge sharing.

The `Judo-Smurf´ is the running gag for the `Ju-Jitsu department´ of the Sports Club "TuS Bloherfelde" (in the city Oldenburg, in the State Lower Saxony, Germany).
Der `Judo-Schlumpf´ ist seit kurzer Zeit ständiger Begleiter der Ju-Jutsu Kinder des TuS Bloherfelde und taucht dann gelgentlich als `running-gag´ auf der Internetseite des Vereins auf!
