Ischnopterapion virens ist weit verbreitet und fast überall häufig. Die Käfer kommen ab etwa April aus ihren Winterquartieren und fressen an den Blättern verschiedener Kleearten. Sie paaren sich auf den Wirtspflanzen und die Weibchen legen in den Stängeln des Klees Eikammern, die nach der Eiablage mit Sekret verschlossen werden. Die Larven fressen in den Stängeln von oben nach unten und verpuppen sich schließlich im unteren Stängelteil. Die neue Generation schlüpft meist ab Juli, frisst eine Weile, legt dann eine Diapause ein und frisst wieder ab etwa September. Im Herbst kommt es schon zu den ersten Paarungen.

Voici le membracide bison (Stictophelia bisonia), minuscule créature qui semble sortie d’un songe. Perché sur une feuille, il arbore une étrange bosse, comme un petit casque façonné par la nature. Ce n’est pas une corne, mais le prolongement de son pronotum, détourné au fil de l’évolution en forme insolite et poétique.
✨ Certains membracides se fondent dans les feuilles, d’autres imitent des épines… et celui-ci ressemble à un minuscule buffle végétal 🌱. Ce camouflage n’est pas qu’esthétique : il brouille la silhouette de l’insecte pour tromper les prédateurs, et pourrait même jouer un rôle dans leur communication vibratoire 📡, ces signaux secrets transmis à travers les tiges.
🐜🍯 En se nourrissant de sève, le membracide sécrète du miellat, véritable friandise pour les fourmis. Celles-ci deviennent alors ses gardiennes, prêtes à défendre ce petit “bison” en échange de sa précieuse production.
🌍 Originaire d’Amérique du Nord, il s’est installé en Europe au XXe siècle et se cache aujourd’hui dans nos prairies. À l’œil nu, on le remarquerait à peine, mais en macro, sa silhouette improbable révèle l’incroyable créativité de l’évolution.

We are having a really good season with these guys. This girl hatched this morning. After seeing her sitting on the vines seed pods in the sun i couldn't help my self but to get the camera.
She was pretty freshly hatch as her wing are still wet and crinkly at the ends.

Cairns Birdwing. Ornithoptera euphorion
Both sexes support their weight when feeding at flowers by rapidly fluttering their wings. Males occasionally compete for flowers with other nectarivores, such as small birds, and usually succeed at driving them off by aggressively flying towards them.
They have a rather short life span as a butterfly only lasting four to five weeks.
Australia's largest endemic butterfly species. The wingspan can be up to 15 cm (5.9 in) in females, and 12.5 cm (4.9 in) in males.
There was a spectacular and rare genetic mutation of this butterfly, where single aberrant female produced less than 40 aberrant progeny. The females were pale instead of dark, and the males were golden instead of green.

Die Zahl Sieben, in diesem Fall die Anzahl schwarzer Punkte auf den roten Flügeldecken des Käfers, galt schon seit je her als Glückszahl und mystische Zahl, vereint sie doch in sich die irdische Vier (vier Elemente) und die göttliche Dreizahl.
Das Landkärtchen oder der Landkärtchenfalter, auch Netzfalter oder Gitterfalter genannt, ist ein Schmetterling aus der Familie der Edelfalter. Der Artenname leitet sich von Levana, einer Gottheit aus der römischen Mythologie ab.
