Another tac-sharp macro shot with just an entry-level DSLR sans costly lens. Thoughtful tutoring by Mr. Adil Gazdar
This grouchy grasshopper lazing for quite some time after being caught in the act was easy to be snapped without any blur
A perfect green backdrop for a dark-skinned guy that made it perfectly stand out from the surroundings.
Next #prey trapped into the intricately woven #funnelweb will be devoured at leisure by the #spider after coolly coming out of the #web burrow
The Indian #FunnelWebSpider is harmless compared to its lethally deadlier Australian counterpart
Signifying strength of character the very sight & scent of #galdiolus #flowers is good enough to gladden a gloomy person.
Easy-to-grow the #gladioli #bulbs are often called #SwordLily due to sword shaped #leaves.
#Macro #photography sans costly macro lenses.

So the race is on again. This is one that we have inside raising in tanks this season. So far we are managing to beat the green ants to them.
The one in this photo is not far off its next stage of life and is about the size of my thumb. It has been inside around eight days and was only just over a centimeter in length.
At this stage they are just eating machines so we are pleased we have lots of vine we can harvest.
So far there have been several females laying on the vines, already lots more than last season.
I hope to be able to do a photo of each stage of life.
Please share. :)
Cairns Birdwing. Ornithoptera euphorion
Both sexes support their weight when feeding at flowers by rapidly fluttering their wings. Males occasionally compete for flowers with other nectarivores, such as small birds, and usually succeed at driving them off by aggressively flying towards them.
They have a rather short life span as a butterfly only lasting four to five weeks.
Australia's largest endemic butterfly species. The wingspan can be up to 15 cm (5.9 in) in females, and 12.5 cm (4.9 in) in males.
There was a spectacular and rare genetic mutation of this butterfly, where single aberrant female produced less than 40 aberrant progeny. The females were pale instead of dark, and the males were golden instead of green.

Lucky shot of a ladybug right on the tip of a leaf. It was a bit windy that day so that it was hard to keep the tiny thing in focus. In the end I decided to use a decent high shutter speed and and manual focus. I especially like that I managed to narrow down the focus nearly only on the ladybug. A bonus is that the it has a reflection in a water droplet right on the tip of the leaf where it stopped.
