UNeMed Corporation, the technology transfer and commercialization office for the University of Nebraska Medical Center hosted the Innovation Awards Ceremony and Reception on Thursday, Oct. 6. The awards recognize all UNMC faculty, students and staff who disclosed a new invention, secured a U.S. patent or licensed a technology during the 2016 fiscal year. Janina Baranowska-Kortylewicz (center) was among the honorees. She is flanked by UNeMed President and CEO Michael Dixon (left) and UNMC Chancellor Jeffrey Gold (right).
Ten IU Kokomo students learned to consider global issues and to find ways of solving some of these problems in their own hometowns, as part of the annual Innovation Symposium.During three weeks in England and Scotland, they meet innovators, visit museums and ecological sites, and research for a final project that addresses a global issue.

The format of the event is similar to speed-dating, allowing corporate executives get exposed to a number of startups in a very brief period of time. (Each startup demonstration is only six-minutes in length.)
