The BeesKnees is my "Dress of the Month" for April 2012, because spring has sprung & it's time for a little frolicking (& what says "frolic" quite like colorful rick rack trim, am I right, ladies?). Built for easy, everyday wear, the BeesKnees proves you can have fun, retro style without sacrificing comfort & move-ability. Designed & hand-made one at a time, by me, just for you.

DESIGN INFO.:

• a just-fitted-enough top with a jewel neckline & short/cap sleeves

• yoke-front style with a pleat & rick-rack trim (the pleat covers the over-bust gathers that give even more roominess where it's needed to, like, move around)

• 4-panel bottom--with more pleats on the side-front panels, also trimmed with rick rack--which is gathered at the back & side-font for shaping and plenty of non-binding move-ability

• hidden, side-seam pockets at the hip-line

• a matching, tie belt (with fabric belt loops/carriers at sides)

• side-seam zipper closure + vintage button & elastic loop at back neckline

FABRIC: this SOLD version made up in vintage (1970's) cotton-poy blend (repurposed bed sheet).

Necklaces, earrings, rings, brooches, bracelets and cufflinks in precious metals, gemstones and more. Inspired by colour with Middle Eastern and Moroccan design influences.

Another variation on my Empress (empire-waisted) Dress design, this one's got:

• a wide, boat neckline & ample room through the upper bodice (top)

• an empire waistline that nips in at the narrowest point of the body (shaped with precision darts front & back and delicate gathering under the bust)

• a fully lined top (for no show-through worries + crisp edges)

• a knee-length, full, a-line shaped skirt (bottom)

• center-back zipper closure (also vintage) with a hook & eye at the neckline for added security

Fabric is a vintage late-1970's or early 1980's woven cotton with a fab print of triangle quilt blocks in various colors and prints.

A new version of an old jewellery design.

The Dolce Handbag bag is it - sweet, chic and practical!! A perfect companion for you everyday adventures.

I've re-photographed this piece using my new macro lenses. I'm much happier with the images now. The piece has been sawn out by hand and is made with sterling silver and natural silk thread.
