The Pakistan Strategy Support Program (PSSP) held the conference, “Increasing Productivity and Unleashing Growth” at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad on May 26-27th, 2012. This conference also marked the final round of the Competitive Grants Program that was launched by PSSP in January 2012 for Pakistani PhD and graduate students studying locally and abroad on economic development issues of Pakistan. The finalists presented in front of the Research Advisory Committee, donor heads, professors and students from local universities. The event also consisted of plenary sessions on Pakistan’s various economic growth issues by renowned academics from all over the world, such as Dr. Jock Anderson, Dr. Regina Birner and Dr. David Spielman.
Amidst increased geopolitical tensions, there has been growing concern that terrorist groups, lone wolves or rogue nations might use biological weapons, or any type of CBRN weapon. International reports and studies provide good reason to believe that threats from a deliberate use of CBRN weapons are no longer inconceivable: international counter-terrorism experts consider a possible CBRN weapon attack possible.
Countries in Europe are gradually raising their level of preparedness for the possible event of a CBRN incident that could become a national security problem. The European Commission released in October 2017 its Action Plan to enhance preparedness against CBRN security risks as part of its comprehensive anti-terrorism package.
Sufficient and timely preparedness are essential and should be considered a high priority for the European Union. Europe can improve its coordination and learn best practices from international organisations such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and past experiences in the United States of America.
This seminar provides a platform for a timely discussion and opportunity to exchange views between MEPs, European and international experts and relevant stakeholders, with the aim of taking further European political actions and raise awareness inside the EU institutions and beyond. And hopefully it can work out a satisfactory answer to the main question: is Europe sufficiently prepared?

The St. Joseph’s parish complex is significant in several ways: the church itself is a superb example of Gothic Revival architecture, significant for its quality, completeness, and high level of integrity; for its important architectural statement of the ethnic character of the parish as the work of a German-immigrant architect whose national influence has not yet been adequately measured; and nationally significant for its chancel windows. The church is also significant as the site of the only documented church furnishings by Charles Van Depoele, who was significant in the development of electric light and nationally significant in the development of the electric streetcar. The three residential buildings are significant as good examples of their types and styles by most importantly in forming a complex with the church building as the dominant element.
Ethnic Heritage-European is included in areas of significance because of the parish’s obvious significance as a German institution. The church was founded as a German ethnic parish, maintained the German language for many years, purposefully built a church based on German models, and the parish is today (at the time of nomination in 1991) the only Catholic parish diocese of Detroit offering German language liturgy. It was the centerpiece of a German-American community which surround it on all sides, and together with the NR St. John-St. Luke Evangelical Church, NR Trinity Lutheran Church, and NR Eastern Market Historic District, constitutes the last reminder of the old German community largely destroyed by Urban Renewal.
Education is included because of the parish’s role in the introduction of the important Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary to the Detroit Catholic school system.

Emissions increase as economies and populations grow; however, there can also be an energy decoupling (relation between energy and GDP) and a decoupling of emissions and decarbonization (relation between emissions and energy consumption). In this way, an increase in per capita income is achieved with less energy consumption and reduced emissions (ECLAC, 2009). Examining an energy intensity index by region for 1980-2005, one sees that, in aggregate for Latin America and the Caribbean, there is no sustained process of energy decoupling, as occurred in other regions of the world. This is reflected in the fact that, in terms of world averages, increases in income have been accompanied by decreases in energy consumption. The trajectories for CO2 emissions and energy consumption in Latin America and the Caribbean in 1980-2005 show that there is a positive relation between these two variables, though it varies from one country to another. During the period in question, both energy consumption and CO2 emissions (excluding those associated with land use changes) grew in the region at an average annual rate that was higher than the world average. Likewise, for the same period, emissions in Latin America and the Caribbean grew at a rate somewhat lower than the increase in energy consumption, suggesting that there has been a slight process of decarbonization in the region.

My car is completed now but I'd like to start my submission with a blog post during the construction of my 5.0 V8 Miata beast: she's been on the Road for about a year now with no major issue. It's lightning fast (0 - 60mph in about 4 seconds) and a real head-turner.
One of my favorite parts about the project though is the personalized tag I scored. I hope this meets the spirit of the contest. I really love backing into the local Starbucks on Sunday mornings (optimally beside the Prius with the most Obama stickers). I think it makes the little latte sippers reconsider their position on extraordinary rendition and waterboarding.
