In spite of saving this toads life at least a couple of dozen times over the course of a summer season he does not look impressed with my efforts. Apparently my porch was the place to be that summer if you were a toad however I had several dogs that made it their quest to catch and not release this dude. He turned the porch into his own personal vacation villa. I found him on several mornings swimming and relaxing in the dogs water bowl. There were a few occasions when I opened my kitchen door to look for him before I put the dogs out and he was sitting staring at my door only about 2 inches away. I swear I could hear him knock sometimes......ha ha. It had a good ending as the dogs were not successful in having toad legs for dinner that entire summer.
The cone of the Licancabur (5916 m - 19409 ft) dominates us from its full height. On its right is the Juriques (5,704 m - 18714 ft).
The Licancabur owes its name to the Indians of Atacama, and means mountain or volcano of the people (lican-cabur).
This mythical volcano, asleep but not considered extinct, is the real postcard of the region of San Pedro de Atacama and Lipez. It marks the border between Chile and Bolivia.
From its height of 5916 m (19409 ft), it dominates the Atacama Salar at Chilean side, and the Laguna Verde in Bolivia. This stratovolcano has a crater, located in Chile and 400 m in diameter, with a lake of 90 m by 70 m in its center.
The Licancabur also houses many Inca ruins and a sanctuary at its summit; it was an eminently important place for the pre-Columbian cultures of the region.

Un volcan impressionnant
Le cône du Licancabur (5916 m) nous domine de toute sa hauteur. A sa droite, on voit aussi le Juriques (5,704 m).
Le Licancabur doit son nom aux indiens d'Atacama, et signifie montagne ou volcan du peuple (lican-cabur).
Ce volcan mythique, endormi mais non considéré comme éteint, est la véritable carte postale de la région de San Pedro de Atacama et du Lipez. Il marque la frontière entre le Chili et la Bolivie.

Le Licancabur abrite également de nombreuses ruines Incas ainsi qu’un sanctuaire en son sommet ; il fut un lieu éminemment important pour les cultures précolombiennes de la région.

These impressing monkeys have an amazing mimikry. Its a subspecies of baboons wich live in the "Tierpark Berlin". Only one day with good weather when we were in Berlin for a long weekend - so we choosed to try to make some sunshine photos away from the many tourists in the inner city. This was a good idea.. :-D

Gardena German retractable water hose reel makes life much neater,
I bought one 4 years ago for the back garden, I was so impressed I purchased another last year, if you have one I have a suggestion, as the hose retracts wrap a cloth around the hose that will clean all the debris instead going in the real.
No more straggling to untangle hoses, it is worth the money I spend.

A large, dark grayish brown kiwi with brownish streaking, often showing white patches on face. Restricted to native forest near Okarito in New Zealand, with small populations on predator-free Mana, Blumine, and Motuara islands. Often heard at night foraging as it sniffs loudly, tapping the ground for invertebrates. Male call is a series of clear rising whistles. Female call is a harsh throaty wail. Both sexes repeat their call many times, and sometimes call simultaneously. Could be confused with Weka by voice and shape; look for the kiwi’s much longer bill and lack of tail, and listen for its multisyllabic call. (eBird)

On the ferry to Blumine Island were two conservation officers who were taking two kiwis to a nearby island for release into the wild. During the trip, they brought out one of the kiwis and showed the fascinated passengers how the birds were banded and tagged with electronic trackers. The kiwi wasn't really impressed by all this handling, but the bander knew what she was doing and the job was quickly done. Before returning him to his travel box, the conservation officer showed him off to the enthralled passengers, most of whom had probably never seen a kiwi close up and in the daylight. I was absolutely thrilled!
A few days later, we heard a female calling at a mainland location, but did not see her so this was the only sighting that we had.

It was a very special moment to get in contact with this impressing beautiful deer. He lives in the wildlife park with his herd, and watching these majestic deer is really amazing.

Explore Feb 1/08 Common Goldeneye. Mating pose to attract the females. A female Common Goldeneye often lays eggs in the nest of another female, especially in nest boxes. She may lay in the nests of other species of ducks as well. Common and Barrow's goldeneyes lay in each other's nests, and Wood Ducks and Hooded Mergansers often lay in the goldeneye's nest too. Duff House in Banff … the front entrance has the double sweep of an imperial staircase, making the front beautifully symmetrical.
Now in the care of Historic Environment Scotland, it is part of the National Galleries Scotland and is a Category A listed building. It holds part of the National Portrait collection.

Some of my contacts wanted to know where Waterfall Park was. I put that together with AI. I figured everyone knew that. I got the inspiration from a waterfall park in Central Mexico. I took my then girl friend there thinking she would be impressed because we also stayed in the hotel next door. All she did was complain that it was too load to sleep. I went down to the front desk and had them switch room. We left the next day.
