Prosperidad Social entregó implementos para el montaje de unidades de producción de alimentos a 577 hogares participantes de Familias en su Tierra, en Sucre, este jueves. Con este programa la entidad atiende a hogares víctima del conflicto armado, que han sido retornados o reubicados: los apoya para lograr la estabilización socioeconómica.
Los participantes recibieron elementos para la implementación de huertas verticales y horizontales: bolsillos de fieltro, bandejas de germinación, sustrato, herramientas de jardinería, tanque para almacenamiento de agua, semillas, filtros para agua, manguera y polisombra, entre otros elementos. La entrega se realizó en los corregimientos Santiago Apóstol y La Ventura, del municipio San Benito Abad.
En Sucre hay 577 hogares beneficiarios del programa. Todos están en estos corregimientos de San Benito Abad. Cielo Rusinque, directora de Prosperidad Social, participó en la entrega de Santiago Apóstol. “Somos conscientes de que son muchas más las necesidades del corregimiento. Ustedes han sido víctimas de desplazamiento, han sido vulneradas en sus derechos y han vivido en carne propia la violencia que trae consigo un país en conflicto. Son prioridad en un gobierno que le apuesta a la Paz Total. Y la Paz Total empieza por la justicia social”, dijo.
Los elementos entregados corresponden a un kit para la implementación de una unidad de producción para autoconsumo (UPA). Con esto la entidad busca mejorar el acceso y el consumo de alimentos. Ofrece a las personas capacidades para el manejo de las huertas caseras y promueve hábitos alimentarios saludables. Las entregas responden a la disposición y condiciones del espacio, que la entidad verifica previamente en las visitas domiciliarias a los hogares.
Familias en su Tierra brinda actividades de formación, acompañamiento técnico e incentivos en especie y monetarios. Fortalece capacidades para la integración social y comunitaria y la seguridad alimentaria, mejora las condiciones de la vivienda y genera o fortalece proyectos productivos.
Sucre es uno de los departamentos que Prosperidad Social atiende actualmente con el programa. Hace parte de la zona 1 de la novena intervención de Familias en su Tierra. Los otros departamentos de la zona son Bolívar, Córdoba, Magdalena, Norte de Santander y Santander. Esta primera fase de entregas beneficiará a 11.770 hogares en los seis departamentos.

Following the implementation of a ceasefire, LWF was able to send medicine and medical supplies into the Gaza strip. The truck arrived at the Al Ahli hospital in Gaza city at the end of January 2025.
The shipment contained medicines and medical supplies for the Al Ahli hospital in Gaza City, among them cancer medication for patients in Gaza, but also surgical gloves, gauze and other basic hospital supplies. It was organized between the LWF country programs in Jerusalem (Augusta-Victoria-Hospital) and Jordan.

12-14 June 2022, Cairo/Minya, Within the framework of implementing the project entitled “Improved Livelihoods, Nutrition and Empowerment of Rural Women and their Families affected by COVID-19 crisis in Minya Governorate - OSRO/EG/102/Canada” and its work plan, a visit to Cairo and Minya was foreseen for Mr Nikita Eriksen, GAC’s Food Security Specialist during the period 09 – 15 June 2022. Mr Eriksen is interested in the food crisis as it is a major preoccupation of senior management at Global Affairs Canada so his visit/discussion will be very relevant to informing Canada’s global and local response. He is also interested to better understand the particular challenges of the Egyptian agriculture sector and intersection with climate change
As per the attached Agenda, Mr Nikita Eriksen shall visit FAO office on the 12th of June then will undertake a field mission to Minya on the 13th and 14th of June to have an overview of the project implementation activities and attend a nutrition awareness campaign. The field mission shall take place in 2 villages: in Deir El Garnous, Maghagha District and in Derwa in Mallawi District.

ArtRwanda Ubuhanzi Grand Finale | 15 December 2018
ArtRwanda - Ubuhanzi is a nationwide talent search project implemented by Imbuto Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and the Ministry of Sports and Culture. The project aims at identifying and supporting young and talented Rwandans within the creative arts industry. It will consist of a televised nationwide search for creative youth in six different categories (plastic arts, dance & music, fashion, theatre & drama, cinematography & photography and literature).
We believe that Rwandan youths who have creative talents need to be nurtured further, to reach their full potential and create a positive impact in the creative and socio-economic development of our country. We also see the need to foster youth unemployment, which continues to be a serious issue, slowing down our national development.
Through this project, we aim to address these two problems simultaneously by recognizing and raising awareness of the talent that is widely present among Rwandan youth, while supporting the creation of jobs and employment for youth in the creative industry.
29-30 May 2023 – Minya, The Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), organizes a regional forum on “The future of Farmers' Field Schools” for Sustainable Agrifood systems in the Near East and North Africa in Minya. The Forum will take place over two days, from 29 to 30 May 2023, with the attendance of 60 participants from the Food and Agriculture Organization, government representatives from countries in the NENA region, FFS practitioners and facilitators, where Egyptian FFS farmers will share their own experiences during the forum.
FFS is implemented in over 90 countries with approximately 0.4–1 million farmers graduating per year as a good tool for involving farmers in verifying the health of agricultural food systems and adapting them to better meet their needs. Several reports documented how FFS improves farmers' skills and knowledge to create more sustainable production systems and contribute to the achievement of all SDGs.
The forum is a basis for identifying needs and challenges in FFS implementation, aligning FFS with emerging priorities of food systems, and improving dialogue and coordination at the national and regional levels. Furthermore, the event provides an opportunity to present the results of the FAO regional stocktaking on FFS as a basis for the way forward.
