Built in 1854-1856 the Wheeling Suspension bridge is the oldest bridge of it's kind in the US. But, with a gross weight limit of 2,000 lbs and a requirement that vehicles travel less than 45mph and stay 50' apart it's not practical for today's traffic and has been closed to all vehicles since 2019.
Oscillation is a significant concern for this bridge and noting how close to the banks the piers are built I can understand this is a real issue.
For those inclined to research this bridge, it is interesting the note the battle between Wheeling, to have this bridge built and Pittsburgh, who was concerned about the impact of this bridge on river traffic.

When I took the photo I didn't see the impact the flight of the pelican had on the water below, granted maybe it is just by chance bacause the water behind him wasn't distubed, or maybe he was coming in for a landing.
Some words pass through us quickly and vanish into the air;
others burrow into our flesh and change the way we think, speak, and feel.

One of my favority rocks to take shots of. In actuality, it's part of an old jetty that was mostly removed a year or two ago.

Yesterday was a horrible day. While overcast, the temperature climbed steadily along with windy conditions leading to the hottest day for 12 years.(since 2014) according to the ABC. A state of emergency has been declared after multiple fires were ripping through the state.
Staying under cover was so important for humans and wildlife, though we are yet to know the overall death toll (3 missing) and damage to land and property.
The air is smoky here in Melbourne this morning with clouds, wind and lightning storms overnight.
I really don't know how the emergency services people manage and the wonderful CFA volunteers.
Power and phone services are also non-operable in some affected areas.
On a brighter note - the cooler weather has arrived giving some days to recover. But not enough rain to impact the fires raging out of control.

Up north Queensland, a tropical low possible Cyclone is threatening large dumps of rain with probable flooding. I hope people keep safe there as well.

A favorite shot from this past monsoon...September 1st was a great lightning day, sat here for almost an hour, barely in and out of the rain...and finally the bolts got close and I loved this one slamming into those hills northeast of Willcox.
If you look super close, you can see two upward streamers at the impact point!
Images of asteroid impact craters as seen from the International Space Station. ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst published these to his social media accounts on Asteroid Day 2020 (30 June) with the caption: Scary. I took these photos from the International Space Station. They show two meteorite impact craters in Chad (Sahara) which are 13 & 14 km wide. Imagine how many times your city could fit in them. To avoid future impacts, the European Space Agency works with international partner agencies on space safety. #AsteroidDay #bluedot #horizons

Hello my bbys! I’m super excited to say that I feel like I’m back! Last Saturday (May 25th), I went shooting with Dee after not seeing her for two months and it was fabulous! We went to so many locations and I changed 5 times in the trunk (in front of random guys playing basketball, I might add) and we got all wet and there were dead fish and we saw super sketch graffiti and it was great because we were finally going on adventures again! Plus, Dee was rocking the modeling (as you can see here) and I totes remembered why I LOVE photography so much (as well as modeling)! And school will be ending in 3 days along with finals so I’ll hopefully be able to shoot way more often (without that lame excuse of being “busy”; more like laaaazy).
I actually have a few more pictures from this shoot already edited but I really wanted this one to be uploaded first. I bought this jug at a thrift store several months ago and I’ve been wanting to shoot with it for awhile not, so alas! It took me so long to edit but I wanted to make sure it was as perfect as I could get it, as well as sleep on it for several days. Whoop, I’m pumped.
Speaking of being lazy, I finally loaded my Polaroid with film and you can see a picture of Dee with the graffiti in the comments!
I love you all for sticking with me, xox
P.S. Shout out to the amazing Gina for finishing her 365 yesterday, you're incredible! <3
