Violaceous Euphonia- Facts: It's size is between 11 and 12 centimeters in length and weighs about 15 grams (male). The species presents sexual dimorphism: the male has metallic blue upper parts, a yellow spot on the forehead and yellow lower parts, and the female has olive green upper parts and olive yellow lower parts. One of the best imitators. A single male can manifest itself in a few minutes in the voice of 10 to 16 different bird species. Their imitations are perfect. Their repertoire is faithful copy of the avifauna of the region in which they lives. In the feeders it's common to hear they imitating hawks voices to scare the other birds so that they can be alone enjoying the food.

****************************************************************
Unlike Icterine Hypolaïs, Polyglot Hypolaïs winters not in the south, but in western Africa.
The song of the male incorporates many imitations, which is why it is called the "Little counterfeiter", in opposition to the icerine Hypolaïs which is also a good imitator and that is called, the "Great counterfeiter".
He likes the airy wastelands with low and thorny vegetation, the young moors, the bushes, provided they are well exposed, because he likes the heat and the dry grounds.
It is common throughout Picardy.

I know that I am pushing the importance of children and family. Let me explain, families do not agree about everything, and that is natural. The big thing is that no decision any family member makes should interfere with the family relationship, sometimes we have to agree to disagree and other times we have to compromise. Love takes us a long way in this consideration and please keep the love going in your families!
We must protect families, we must protect children, who have inalienable rights and should be loved, should be taken care of physically and mentally, and should not be brought into the world only to suffer.
Indira Ghandi
Children are great imitators. So give them something great to imitate.

There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.
Nelson Mandella
If we nurture the dreams of children, the world will be blessed. If we destroy them, the world is doomed!
Wes Stafford
Pretty much all the honest truth-telling there is in the world is done by children.
Oliver Wendell Holmes
Children are the world's most valuable resource and its best hope for the future.
John F. Kennedy
We lose eight children and teenagers to gun violence every day. If a mysterious virus suddenly started killing eight of our children every day, America would mobilize teams of doctors and public health officials. We would move heaven and earth until we found a way to protect our children. But not with gun violence.
Elizabeth Warren

The Golden-winged Warbler is one of the more aggressive Wood-Warbler species. The males defend their nesting territory with song but if a rival male is undaunted by that then body language with some aggressive calls is employed. If this tactic is challenged then a warning call is issued with a raised crown and spread tail followed with a high-speed chase and/or wing combat.
While feeding they look like they are imitators of chickadees and nuthatches with their active upside down swinging while foraging underneath leaves and branches for spiders, caterpillars, moths and other winged insects.
Being a close relative of the Blue-winged Warbler they often interbreed with them producing hybrids.
They nest in vegetation on the ground and their clutch of eggs will hatch in about eleven days.
This male is displaying his brightly coloured breeding plumage.
Built above one of the fortress towers of the Babylon, the Church of St. George is a Greek Orthodox church in Coptic Cairo. It was originally built in the 7th century, but the current structure was rebuilt following a 1904 fire. St. George is the only round church in Egypt, but unlike the original Church of the Holy Sepulchre and its many imitators, this is only for practical reasons – it is built atop the foundations of a Roman round tower.
Mar is a title of respect in Syriac, literally meaning my lord. It is given to all saints and bishops. Girgis is the Arabized adoption of the Greek word Georgios, thus Mar Girgis means St. George in English.

this collage has been made by me with the intent to dedicate it to Becca , a joyful intent, she's a lovely and gentle person and deserves my appreciation and respect, so I worked on a certain idea hoping that she would appreciate it.
Unfortunately a woman on flickr imitated my idea .
I do not like imitators, someone copied my idea and it is not the first time , to tell the truth ..... that means that my creative idea has been used by this lousy thief to make her own work..... better not comment on thieves on flickr , there are many ! There's so much room for individual creativity here that idea thieves are just poor of spirit and mean .

...as already mentioned, the starling is an imitator. Today a collared dove wanted to visit the feeding station. The Starling observed the dove and let out its bird of prey cry. The dove flew away in a flash, and the starling had the feeding station to itself!!
What a clever fellow!
sorry to say that I see many imitators of my creations, as fantasy is a very large realm, pls use yours !

Skillful imitator, the Gray Catbird prefers undergrowth. From time to time, he will offer his performance well short.

The Central American White-faced Capuchin, is a medium-sized New World monkey of the family Cebidae, subfamily Cebinae. Native to the forests of Central America, the white-faced capuchin is important to rainforest ecology for its role in dispersing seeds and pollen.
Among the best known monkeys, it is recognized as the typical companion to the organ grinder. It is a highly intelligent monkey and has been trained to assist paraplegic persons. It is a medium-sized monkey, weighing up to 3.9 kg (8 lb 10 oz). It is mostly black, but with a pink face and white on much of the front part of the body, giving it its common name. It has a distinctive prehensile tail that is often carried coiled up and is used to help support the monkey when it is feeding beneath a branch.
In the wild, the Central American White-faced Capuchin is versatile, living in many different types of forest, and eating many different types of food, including fruit, other plant material, invertebrates, and small vertebrates. It lives in troops that can exceed 20 animals and include both males and females. It is noted for its tool use, including rubbing plants over its body in an apparent use of herbal medicine, and also using tools as weapons and for getting to food. It is a long-lived monkey, with a maximum recorded age of over 54 years. (Wikipedia)

There were a couple of troops of this cute monkeys living around our resort. They particularly liked the open-air restaurant where they would lie in wait to steal the sugar packets from unguarded tables. Then they would sit in the trees, opening each packet and draining that sweet goodness. The staff tried to control them and the sugar but there were too many and they were too clever :-)

For such a cute, fluffy insect, bee-flies have a gruesome way of life. Bee-flies lay their eggs into solitary mining bees nests. The female coats her eggs in dust or sand so the eggs do not dry out and which adds that little extra weight so she can be more accurate at flicking her eggs in to the burrows. The Bee-flies larva feeds on the mining bees larva.
This Bee-fly seems to like the Aubretia plant to feed on.
Penseelkever - Bee Beetle (Trichius zonatus, Trichius fasciatus),
a cute & furry bee mimicker.

An amazing imitator of other bird calls and a bird with so many vocalizations that I never know what bird I'm really listening to. Backyard bird.
Keith is 80, Wealthy, Wrinkly and Well, still playing. Keith Richards and the rest of the Stones, came rolling to Toronto every few years, to keep their 'Stoners' happy. He got more gray and wrinkled since this photo was taken. 'The Rolling Stones' performed for about 300 people in my neighbourhood street party in 2013. Tina Turner (†), the late Don Franks, Danny Marks (very much alive), and last, but not least the late Toronto Mayor Rob Ford were there also that year. The guitarist, songwriter and singer was born Dec 18, 1943, but some people believe that is was 1843.

"So be imitators of God, as beloved children, and live in love, as Christ loved us and handed himself over for us as a sacrificial offering to God for a fragrant aroma."

three primates from Costa Rica. from Wiki: Four species of monkey are native to the forests of Costa Rica, the Central American squirrel monkey (Saimiri oerstedii), the Panamanian white-faced capuchin (Cebus imitator), the mantled howler (Alouatta palliata) and Geoffroy's spider monkey (Ateles geoffroyi). All four species are classified scientifically as New World Monkeys. Two of the species, the Central American squirrel monkey and the white-faced capuchin, belong to the family Cebidae, the family containing the squirrel monkeys and capuchins. The other two species belong to the family Atelidae, the family containing the howler monkeys, spider monkeys, woolly monkeys and muriquis.[4][5] Each of the four species can be seen in national parks within Costa Rica, where viewing them in natural surroundings is a popular tourist attraction.[6][7] The only park in which all four species can be seen is Corcovado National Park, on the Osa Peninsula. Of these, the squirrel monkey is endangered, living only in secondary forests and partially logged primary forests on the central and south Pacific coast of Costa Rica, and on the Pacific coast of Panama near the Costa Rican border.
Cebus imitator, the Central American white-faced capuchin is a small diurnal monkey with black bodies, tails and limbs and white faces, throats, chests and shoulders occurring in Central America, in Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama. Print Size 13x19 inches.
This picture is accurately recorded in Claude's Liber Veritatis, the book of drawings the painter made to record his compositions and to protect himself against forgers and imitators. On the back of the drawing Claude noted that the picture was made in Paris, but the client is not named. In the eighteenth century this painting belonged to Dr Richard Mead, the famous collector in London. Then it was called Morning and was paired with another Claude landscape entitled Evening which was not conceived as its pendant.

'Silver Elvis' is a Toronto institution. Did not see him for few years, but he is baaack. He is part of almost every street festival that I attend, so perhaps it is not so much that he was not around, I just did not see him. Peter Jarvis has been an entertainer & performance artist since 1979, and he looks the same! I suspect that his Elvis outfit did not last 40 years. He is not just in Toronto, but world wide and not just Elvis, but variety of characters. Facilitating artistic mime, dance, clown, mask and music have allowed Peter to work extensively in film, theatre and television. Elvis died in 1977, but he is probably most imitated musician even today.

The catbirds arrived a few weeks ago, with the brown thrashers. Along with the mockingbirds (year round residents) the backyard is very noisy. The catbirds, thrashers, and mockingbirds are such wonderful mimics, imitating the calls of so many different birds that I'm never quite sure what I'm listening to. Backyard bird.
