Assn#3-Writing on an imaginary form-Wind and music
One form that I come up with when thinking of something imaginary is wind. Although you can feel it and see the effects of it, watching a scarf blowing in it, or the leaves, it is something that has never been literally seen. There has been much research trying to visualize the wind, especially when tracking storms and the weather, however, if someone had never felt the wind on their face or blowing across the hairs on their arms, and have never seen how the wind can be so forceful to blow down a tree – they would never really be able to comprehend what wind is just by viewing any drawing that has been created to visualize it. Therefore, to me, it is an imaginary form that can take on almost any shape and emotion, from a soft caress across the skin, to a violent temperamental beast that you must throw your back to in order to protect yourself from it. It can be both friend and foe.
Similarly, music is something that one can sometimes feel as if to almost touch, however it is a form that is also imaginary. Some music can be so light and soothing that it seems to transcend you through the air, while other music is heavy and daunting, seemingly weighing you down. If music could be visualized, I’d imagine it, like the wind, could take on many forms and shapes, whipping the emotions about at will, moving quickly up and down, back and forth, then slowing to a dull pulse like a soft heartbeat.
