Description: This recipe for “Six Minst Pyes" is bound amongst the Conway Papers, part of the State Papers of Charles I, created by Edward Conway, Charles’ Secretary of State.
Although at first it may seem strange for there to be a mince pie recipe tucked in amongst the more usual documents of the Secretary of State and the Privy Council, it is worth remembering that many of the Secretaries treated the State Papers as their own filing system. It is therefore not unusual to find items such as poems, drawings or recipes amongst them.

Gay rights demonstration in Trafalgar Square including members of the Gay Liberation Front (GLF).
The GLF held its first meeting in a basement classroom at the London School of Economics on 13th October 1970. It was inspired by the US GLF movements, which aimed to gain equal rights for the LGBT communities on an unapologetic basis. The organisation was very informal, having no designated structure, and organised marches, "gay days", street theatre performances, sit-ins and produced a journal entitled 'Come Together'. These activities led to the first Gay Pride March in 1972.
