Roseate Spoonbill ~ out on a limb

******************************************************************************

The Roseate Spoonbill is a wading bird of the ibis and spoonbill family. This species feeds in shallow fresh or coastal waters by swinging its bill from side to side as it steadily walks through the water, often in groups. The spoon-shaped bill allows it to sift easily through mud. It feeds on crustaceans, aquatic insects, frogs, newts and very small fish ignored by larger waders. The Roseate Spoonbill nests in shrubs or trees, often mangroves, laying 2 to 5 eggs, which are whitish with brown markings. Immature birds have white, feathered heads, and the pink of the plumage is paler. They are extremely agile high in the treetops. (They are often confused with the flamingo.)

Ignore the fig dump filler content, there is something on the way. Thanks for taking a look!

The winter sunset reflected on the lake manages to make brown an interesting color.

I miss light on water.

⭐️Thank you in Advance for your kind ‘Faves’ Visits and Comments they are so very much appreciated. 👍

I cannot always ‘Thank’ everyone individually, for their Visits and ‘Faves’ however, I will always try to respond and thank all those that leave a ‘Comment’. If I do not reply to your 'Comment', it is not because I am ignoring you, it's because I have not seen the 'Comment'.

Your 'Comments' do not always appear in 'Notifications' or Flickr mail, so, I am sorry for any delay in responding. Often your 'Comment' is only spotted 'On the Page' on the day, that I see it. (seen ONLY when replying to someone HAS 'Commented' on the image, and I see a notification)

Fishermen had gathered outside the riverfront bait shop hoping to sell their catch to tourists. This tourist group seemed to be more interested in the contents of the cooler than the salmon he was presenting to them.

".....no matter how hard I try to get you birds to sing like a canary all I get is honks and grunts!"

....as hard as he tried to organize a protest march against the New Orleans Pelicans for their politically incorrect use of the name, George's words of protest just seem to fall on the indifferent deaf ears of the crowd.

".....I'm telling you guys, don't eat the mackerel, I hear it's full of mercury!"

".....Lou choked on a fish, musta' been this big!"

I was under the impression that Female bumblebees can not sting, they can repeatedly, but generally ignore humans and other animals. I was never stung by one of them, I usually pick them up and they walk up my arm,

Perhaps I'll Bee more careful:-)

This is how people come to trouble when signs aren't followed.

Behind the metal frame and glass panels, stairs and an escalator lead up to an enclosed walkway (overpass) over Macleod Trail, one of Calgary's busiest roads, and on to Chinook Centre shopping mall.

Note how the curved design of the red benches contrasts with the straight lines and angles of the structure behind them.

Regarding architecture, it is often said that "form follows function." While true in many cases, this ignores the fact that architects can also use frivolous architectural forms to show off, to indulge their egotism and vanity, and to attract attention to themselves for the purpose of obtaining future commissions. Viewers should ask themselves, "What is the purpose, the function, of the diagonal linear forms and triangular shapes on the outside of the structure [in the photo above]?" Mere decoration? Artistry that enhances the urban environment?

I'm used to being ignored. Some people will often blithley walk into a scene when its quite obvious that I'm composing a picture. That's OK, though! The end result is often more interesting with a person for perspective - as it was in this image with a very pleasant lady, who was totally absorbed in checking out the many features of a heritage home during a Doors Open event.

We'll be seeing more of those mad lads in coming days... Seen at the Ballinasloe Horse Fair, Co. Galway, Ireland.

Ignoring Good Advice. San Jose, CA 2014

Ignore me, I'm fulfilling an obligation for some prairie scenes for a print project for which I am *very* behind. Likely be a lot of wheat and sky for the next few pics.

At the start of the long walk to the famous Wistman's Woods, there is a beautiful row of trees that you past. I positioned myself up against the beautiful stone wall and captured this seven shot panoramic.

Ignore the date, i couldnt change it on the Olympus.

He sat five feet away staring. Didn't make a sound. Usually, he's yelling and jumps from branch to branch. This time nothing. He did open his mouth, but no sound came out. Scooter, my orange feline companion, stood a few feet away. The wren ignored him. After a couple minutes, he flew off. I like to think it was a message. After all, he and his mate had two successful nests. But then perhaps he had laryngitis. Lord knows, he'd earned by then.

Any directive to not paint graffiti is sure to be ignored. This one in an obscure and rather noxious laneway in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.

Thanks for all your comments and faves, much appreciated as always.
