Roman Catholic. 1839-41, by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin but very much mutilated both in itself and in its setting. Red brick; slate roof. In a C14 German style with a short chancel with flanking small north Lady Chapel and south vestries, an aisled nave apparently with shallow transepts, a north baptistery with stairs down to the crypt below and a north-west chapel of 1933 and 2 thin west towers with needle spires. Arcade of 5 bays with immensely tallslender clustered shafts; a sixth, taller and broader bay marks the 'crossing', Modern west gallery with organ. Their steeply pitched timber roof embracing nave and aisles and suggesting a crossing by means of lateral hips. Tall 2-light windows to chancel and nave. The furnishings now mostly gone. The concave-sided hexagonal pulpit with statuettes of Doctors of the Church is a piece made by Pugin from one of circa 1520 obtained probably from St Gertrude's Abbey, Louvain. The Archbishop's Throne and the stalls incorporate late C15 carved woodwork from St Mary in Capitol, Cologne. Still surviving some of Pugin's stained glass made circa 1845 by W Warrington and there is other glass by Hardman and Co of circa 1865. Also by Hardman and Co, brass to the Rev John More +1856; he stands but has a pillow behind his head. In the crypt only the arch of the easternmost chapel now has any of Pugin's painted patterning. In the crypt, too, monument to Bishop William Ullathorne OSB+1889. He lies in episcopal vestments with, on the wall behind him, a large painted tablet showing him being presented to the Virgin and Child by St Bernard and an angel.

Das Lauteraarhorn ist ein Viertausender in den Berner Alpen. Ausgangspunkt für den
Normalweg ist das A.arbiwak (BE - 2'780m), erreichbar vom G.rimselhospiz (BE - 1'980).
Die Erstbesteigung wurde am 8. August 1842 durch Pierre Jean Édouard Desor,
Christian Girard, Arnold Escher von der Linth und den Führern Melchior Bannholzer aus
H.aslital und Jakob Leuthold aus G.rindelwald unternommen

Die Station Eismeer ist eine der zwei Aussichtspunkte / Haltesttellen im T.unnel der
J.ungfraubahn JB zwischen der S.tation E.igergletscher und dem J.ungfraujoch im
Berner Oberland im Kanton Bern in der Schweiz.

Eismeer - Der Name dieser Station könnte nicht treffender sein
.

In haushohen Abbrüchen fliesst ein breiter E.isstrom des oberen Ischmeer / Eismeer
dem unteren G.rindelwaldgletscher zu. Umrahmt wird das Eismeer von den Alpengipfeln
W.etterhorn (BE - 3`701m) - S.chreckhorn (BE - 4`078m) - L.auteraarhorn (BE - 4`042m)
und dem grossen F.iescherhorn (BE/VS - 4`049m) und dem M.ittellegigrat gegen den
E.iger (BE - 3`970m)

Mitten in dieser Gletscherwelt konnte am 25. Juli 1905 die Aussichtsstation in 3`159m
Höhe in der S.üdwand des E.iger eröffnet werden. Die Station Eismeer blieb während
sieben Jahren E.ndstation der J.ungfraubahn, bevor 1912 das J.ungfraujoch erreicht
werden konnte.
Früher konnte von hier mit den Skiern nach G.rindelwald gefahren werden. Leider haben
sich die E.ismassen des unteren G.rindelwaldgletschers in den letzten Jahren dermassen
zurückgebildet dass diese Tour nur noch sehr schwer zu bewältigen ist.

Für mich persöhnlich ist die Station Eismeer der schönste Aussichtspunkt beim Besuch
des Jungfraujoch. Normalerweise hält der letzte Zug auf`s J.ungfraujoch des Tages bei
dieser Station nicht mehr an.

The Eisemeer Station is one of the two view points in the c.hunnel between E.igergletscher
and the Station J.ungfraujoch / Top of Europe in the Switzerland.

Eismeer => Arctic Ocean - The name of this station could not be more accurate.

In crashes houses a broad flowing ice the lower G.rindelwald g.lacier. Surrounded,
the Arctic Ocean by the Alpine peaks W.etterhorn (BE - 3 `701m) - S.chreckhorn
(BE - 4` 078m) - L.auteraarhorn (BE - 4 `042m) and the big F.iescherhorn
(BE / VS - 4` 049m), and against the M.ittellegi - ridge to the E.iger (BE - 3 `970m)
Right in the middle of this glacier world was on 25 July 1905 the lookout station at 3 `159m
altitude opened. The station remained Arctic Ocean during seven years terminus of the
J.ungfrau - R.ailway before in 1912 J.ungfraujoch was achieved.
Previously could from here with the skis to G.rindelwald driven. Unfortunately, the ice
masses of the lower G.rindelwald g.lacier in the last few years went back that this tour
just very difficult to cope.

For me, the station is the most beautiful view while visiting the J.ungfraujoch.
