Today is Australia Day. Australia celebrates or mourns, depending on your political ideology. It is the day when many people from differing backgrounds and faith become Australian citizens, pledging to uphold our laws and democracy. It is a day some Indigenous people have dubbed Invasion Day because it marks the day white invaders came.
Whatever your feeling, have a peaceful and enjoyable day.
This is one of our native trees that flowers all through the summer in the green and gold colours of our country.
This is an artwork that I felt needed to be shared in light of it being the new moon in Scorpio tonight.
I'm not sure if it's finished yet but I do know that it's charged with all the energy and intensity that one way or another we're all feeling right now.
An artist colleague commented recently that the Dragonfly appears to be 'breaking free' and I like that, not least because of the symbolism attached to these beautiful creatures.
On a personal level it's the Phoenix rising, in another more refined and matured incarnation.
It is breaking away from the constraints of older, more rigid ideologies but with grateful acknowledgement of where I've come from.
My first venture over 30 years ago into partial abstraction and a move away from more conventional realist subject matter was a Dragonfly and this is depicted here in the burnt edge and the mosaic.

It is difficult to conceive of a potentially more instructive social danger due to its egalitarian nature than the incomparable threat of Covid19. It is a global issue that cannot be tackled effectively using local recipes and requires universal cooperation from a cosmopolitan perspective.
Taking time to reflect (RRA)
Although this is not the time for ideological or social demands, at least until we surrender to the adversary, this crisis can help us change our perspective on certain issues of enormous importance. For example, the hegemonic mentality of for himself may vary, prevailing since the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Cold War.
Could this global pandemic lead to a kind of social revolution? A revolution as unprecedented as the pandemic itself. That it be undertaken without fanfare and be seen consummated by far-reaching reforms.
INTERVIEWS
Glenn Losack: " Photography's New Conscience"
I had the opportunity to interview Glenn Losack, M.D. after a Facebook friend referred him to me. One of his themes of his photographs symmetry caught my eye . He is both a psychiatrist and a photojournalist. What a combination! His photos have appeared in National Geographic and American Photo magazines.
His story is incredible:
I discovered that SYMMETRY brought forth numerous fascinating subliminal, metaphorical, psychological and cultural themes that werenât evident in the original images [images before they were processed in Photoshop]. Symmetry also enhanced the asthetic beauty of images. I found that it didn't work for many images, but those that were symmetrizable successfully, I felt needed to be made public to instill intellectual analysis and discourse.
2. What image editing program do you use?
PHOTOSHOP CS4 the absolute KING of all applications. It is one of the greatest inventions of the modern era.
3. How long does it take to make an image?
I can spend hours on an image. Some I work on for days until I am satisfied. The average time is about a few hours. The real truth is an image is never finished. You have to though call it quits when you think youâve gotten the point across.
4. Whatâs your favorite image?
(He mentions two: YOKO- PRAGUE CZECH REPUBLIC and BLIND BABY SITTER- DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, pictured above)
An impossible question to answer. There are so many of them. My catalogue is close to 8000 images.
The two that come to mind is one that is owned by YOKO ONO ( the wife of John Lennon ) and the other made it into National Geographic.
5. What statement are you conveying in your image?
I have several goals with my photography. I am a devout advocate for the downtrodden, disenfranchised, scapegoated, handicapped, beggars of the world, etc⦠( Please go to the web site and peruse INDIAN BEGGARS). I have photographed in India for the last 20 years. I have photographed Leper colonies, mental hospitals, beggars of all types, self mutilating religious festivals, cremations, and many other subjects that the West have never seen or know very little about. I try to make my work on the disenfranchised palatable for my audience so that their first reaction is not one of shock or denial. I try to give the downtrodden honor dignity and respect.
Trained as a psychiatrist/medical doctor, I attempt to understand the inner world of my subjects; their personalities, their eccentricities and many times the oddities of humanity fascinate me. Basically I am trying to help my audience look at what is in general difficult to look at.
Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts, ideologies and photography with you.
Photography’s new conscience
Celia Farber claims to be an investigative *ahem* journalist. Really she is nothing more than a person who gets paid for spreading HIV denialist propaganda. Every cause has their mouthpiece. Celia Farber is an expert. Not in HIV or AIDS. No Celia is an expert in very publicly stitching herself up! The following extracts from an interview are taken from bookslut all comments in bold are my own observations:
BS:You are constantly described as an AIDS dissident that does not believe HIV causes AIDS -- but nowhere in your book is this explicitly stated. So how would you describe your views?
CF: Thank you for noticing that critical detail. I have never written that HIV does not cause AIDS. I don’t think I’ve ever said that HIV does not cause AIDS. I took one semester of journalism in college. Thanks Celia. Good to see that you spent a hell of a lot of time earning the title of journalist!!!
CF: It is not for me to say as a journalist -- as a nonscientist -- what causes or doesn’t cause AIDS. Great Celia. You are off to a blinding start. Not only do you admit to having no substantial education as a journalist but you make it perfectly clear that you are not a scientist...
BS:Do you wish you had taken a different approach reporting? Is there anything you would have done differently?
CF:My quick answer is usually yes, of course. But it’s unanswerable… What I wish I had done differently, in retrospect, was to calculate the damage and the blight, both on myself and on my family and ask myself, “Is it fair to do to others?” Because what you actually do is you invite financial ruin. The damage and the blight Celia? Oh poor you and your poor family! How many of your denialist chums have died? How many people who have listened to your warped rhetoric are now dead because they did not access the treatments that could have prolonged their life? That is the damage and that is the blight Celia. NOT the fact that you did not earn more money. But I think that is more to do with just the one semester at journalist school than anything else...
BS:As a non-gay male AIDS reporter and Westerner investigating Africa, did you have to deal with identity politics?
CF: I never got that kind of guff from any Africans, [but] certainly from the gay community. Those that were opposed to what I was doing -- that was one of the charges: that I wasn’t gay and how the hell could I know what I was doing and what right did I have to say anything? But that’s inconsistent with the core belief system, which is that AIDS is everybody’s disease... Yes darling but you started spouting your denialist crap in 1988. Do you also have selective amnesia? Of course the Gay community were going to take exception to your denialist crap because Gay men were bearing the brunt of the numbers of deaths and the social stigma. The last thing they would have wanted when they were dying would be for someone like you to add more bulshit to the fire...
I would go to AIDS conferences and go through an immense crisis each time, “Am I crazy or are they crazy?” Answers on a postcard...
BS: Do you think The Constant Gardner was able to voice political dissent as it is shielded as fiction?
CF:I would caution people against assuming that John le Carre is writing fiction. Let me make a generality: fiction writers today like John le Carre are doing journalism, and the journalists are writing fiction. Thanks again Celia.... i didn't need to read this interview with you to know that you talk a pile of stinking shit! But thanks for the clarification!
I do wish that I could crawl away, quietly and turn up on some completely other part of the beach. So do we Celia, so do we... and take your denialist chums with you...
Celia worked as a researcher on the BBC documentry "Guinea Pig Kids" This is what the BBC had to say about the programme in question:
ECU ruling: Guinea Pig Kids, BBC2, 30 November 2004 and related websites
www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/news/2007/11/30/51154.shtml
Publication date: 30 Nov 2007
Complaint
The Director of Planning and Policy Research of the New York-based Center for HIV Law and Policy, supported by several academics and other agencies involved in HIV research and treatment, complained that the programme unfairly claimed that New York City's Administration for Children's Services, together with a number of medical and child care institutions, "effectively conspired to force helpless children of colour into inappropriate and sinister 'experiments' when in fact they made life saving drugs already approved for adults available to children living with HIV/AIDS who were in the foster care system", that it gave a misleading impression of the effects of anti-HIV medication, and that it falsely claimed that "denying medication to children with AIDS will improve their health while appropriate treatment will kill them".
BBC Editorial Complaints Unit's ruling
The programme explored legitimate concerns about a research project involving the testing of anti-HIV drugs on children in the care system, where (it had emerged) there had been a failure in some cases to provide independent advocacy as required by the research protocols. However, the programme portrayed this failure as being the more serious because the drugs being trialled were, it claimed, both "lethal" and ineffective. In support of these claims, the programme interviewed an expert witness who was, though the audience was not told, a leading advocate of the propositions that HIV is unconnected with AIDS, that anti-retroviral drugs do not work in the treatment of AIDS and that they are, in fact, responsible for deaths attributed to AIDS. The audience was not told that his was a minority and controversial view which would be challenged by mainstream medical opinion. No other medical opinion was heard on this subject.
The programme also gave the false impression that parents or carers who objected to their children being placed in the trials risked losing custody of their children. In fact, the three case studies which created this impression did not involve children connected with the trials. Though there was no explicit claim that "denying medication to children with AIDS will improve their health while appropriate treatment will kill them", the treatment of case studies in the programme contributed to that impression. This complaint has been partly upheld.
Further action
A correction will be published on bbc.co.uk, as part of the pages on which the material complained of appears, with a link to this summary. In addition, the ECU will contact other websites featuring the material in order to draw their attention to its ruling. The management of BBC News is addressing the issues arising from the ruling for the commissioning and supervision of independent productions of this kind.
Celia Farber: An AIDS Denialist Masquerading as a Journalist
Celia Farber, the author of the March 2006 Harper's Magazine article attacking HIV clinical research, misrepresents herself to the popular media as a legitimate journalist and science writer, interested only in doggedly covering a good story. She is in fact an AIDS "dissident" who has been publicizing and extolling the claims of AIDS denialists and attacking scientific research on HIV/AIDS since the late 1980s. Farber has signed the two defining petitions of HIV denialism and she co-authored with members of the denialist group HEAL a core tract of the denialist movement called "HIV: Against Science." She described herself in the subtitle of one of her articles as "an AIDS Dissident" and she is a prominent member of the denialist "Group for the Scientific Reappraisal of the HIV/AIDS Hypothesis." Her denialism is well documented, but she conceals her beliefs in order to fool the mainstream media into allowing her to promote them in print.
Farber's main contribution to the AIDS denialist movement is to broadcast their views to the general public in the disguise of objective journalism. In her writing for the popular press, she has consistently and deceptively refused to fully disclose her deep involvement with, and her role as a spokesperson for, the denialist camp. She has also evaded explaining clearly her own understanding or beliefs about HIV and AIDS. Instead, she allows other denialists to make the case for her in extended, laudatory quotes, while maintaining the pretense that she is just an objective reporter asking honest questions, and one who is unfairly abused for her honesty:
All I ever did was follow and report, with what some may consider excessive attention, the vital debate about whether HIV is the cause of AIDS. And whether AZT is a viable therapy for those who are HIV antibody positive. And whether being HIV antibody positive is the same as "having" HIV. And whether "having" HIV necessarily means your immune system is decaying. Etc. I consider all of these questions to be very straightforward, logical, and of obvious importance. I simply picked up a thread and followed it. (Farber , "AIDS Inc." 1994).
Farber's disingenuous claim to "follow and report" on an issue in which she is deeply committed to one side is one she has tried to maintain even as the Harper's Magazine piece brought new attention to the denialist clique. She is reported in The New York Times as saying that she "does not endorse [denialist Peter] Duesberg's position but is simply reporting on an unpopular view. 'People can't distinguish, it seems, between describing dissent and being dissent [sic],'" she wrote in an email to the reporter, Lia Miller. But in fact, people can distinguish between reportage and the party line, and Farber has always toed the latter. She has for two decades consistently attacked medicine, belittled scientific research and enthusiastically promoted denialists and their various claims. There is nothing even remotely balanced in her work.
Despite the denialist motive that drives her writing, Farber lacks the courage of her convictions and won't publicly stand behind the denialist ideology she promotes so relentlessly. She even cravenly disclaims her own positions when cornered. In a recent email she sent to a wide circulation list, she wrote of her Harper's Magazine article, "It does not, for example, say that all AIDS drugs are ghastly, or worthless." No, perhaps not in those exact words, but Farber is being disingenuous. What her article does say is "Duesberg thinks that up to 75 percent of AIDS cases in the West can be attributed to drug toxicity. If toxic AIDS therapies were discontinued, he says, thousands of lives could be saved virtually overnight." In the same email, she asserted "In each article [in the past] where I have addressed HAART I have included, clearly, the fact that the regimens have absolutely helped people who are very sick." That statement's as absolutely false as it is hypocritical. For example, in an article about HAART published in 2000, she made two comments about the benefits of antiretroviral drugs:
There are facts and figures, studies and counter-studies, a virtual blizzard of data that could be arranged to show any number of things. The new AIDS drugs have saved people's lives: that's one piece of truth. The new AIDS drugs have killed people: that's another. The new AIDS drugs have damaged and deformed some people so badly that although they are alive, they wish they were dead.
And:
Precisely what it means for a life to be "saved" is complicated, especially when the patient was not sick to begin with. As [German denialist Claus] Koehnlein wryly commented, "If you treat completely healthy people you can claim great therapeutic success."
Both of these statements, spun by sarcasm, are in effect claims that no people with HIV/AIDS have benefited from HAART, which is a blatant lie.
Farber has tried to portray herself as a neutral observer to The New York Times and critics by claiming she merely presents the contradictory views of others for the edification of the reader. But when we reviewed 34 articles about AIDS by Farber, we found that the clear thesis and topic of every single one was some variant of AIDS denialism--HIV does not cause AIDS; AIDS doesn't exist; there is no heterosexual AIDS; there is no AIDS epidemic in Africa; HIV is not transmitted by sex or by semen or by breast milk; HIV does not exist...
Farber's writing style typically highlights extensive quotes from denialists, whom she describes in warm, laudatory and respectful terms and whose claims are given great credence. By contrast, she consistently attacks legitimate HIV science, medicine, researchers and AIDS activists. Occasionally, she takes the words of legitimate doctors and advocates out of context to support the denialist argument. All of this is held together with her grandiose narrative of her Quest for The Truth: This, she says, "is my private hell, but also my great Sisyphean challenge. My labyrinth…" (Berkowitz: "Interview" 2000).
Celia Farber wants the world to regard her as a courageous and objective investigative journalist, but in reality she's nothing more than a lying propagandist for the denialist mini-movement. What is shocking is that Harper's Magazine's editors fell for this scam.
Roger Hodge: In Cahoots or Just Incompetent?
Roger Hodge, Farber's editor and, sadly, the man replacing Harper's Magazine's legendary editor Lewis Lapham, has defended his ignominious debut by claiming that he is merely airing an important controversy. It is not yet clear if he actually shares Farber's denialism or was, by failing to exercise due diligence, merely deceived by her masquerade as a journalist. Quite possibly, both of these things are true. On the question of HIV as the cause of AIDS, he told Gay City News "I don't feel like I am qualified to judge it"-a dodge similar to Farber's feints when she's in the headlights. The New York Times reported that "Mr. Hodge said the magazine stood behind the article and Ms. Farber. 'The fact that she's been covering this story does not make her a crackpot - it makes her a journalist. She's a courageous journalist, I believe, because she has covered the story at great personal cost.'"
Hodge also continues to assert the accuracy of the article against the overwhelming evidence presented to him that the piece is a farrago of fabrications, errors and innuendo. Gay City News reported that he said: "It was very, very thoroughly fact-checked over the course of three months. … A lot of what people are describing as errors are differences of opinion about the data." But his fact-checkers were either biased or incompetent, because at least 58 scientific and non-scientific howlers made it into print (www.aidstruth.org). Did Farber provide Hodge with her own list of "experts" to consult as fact-checkers? Or did Hodge select them based on his own knowledge of science and medicine? In either case, this vital task in the editing of any article was thoroughly botched.
If all it takes to get a science-bashing article into the new, dumbed-down Harper's Magazine is to warm-over baseless conspiracy theories and wild speculation, then we can expect the next issue to feature a piece from the Discovery Institute that promotes Intelligent Design – let's teach the controversy, brave Sir Roger! And perhaps he'll offer space to the oft-maligned Holocaust denialists, too, who make the same claim that legitimate scholars will not pay attention to their theories.
Hodge's quotes in Gay City News reveal that he still sees AIDS denialism as something honorable, a case of the little guy taking on the big bad wolves of the federal government and the pharmaceutical industry, standing up to be counted, risking it all for the sake of the truth and freedom of speech. If this were true, Hodge would have the full support of all of us, for we share this predisposition. We, like most scientists and AIDS activists, are liberals and progressives. That's why it's so difficult for us to accept that Harper's Magazine, a journal aimed at liberal intellectuals, would print Farber's article. The AIDS denialists are not honest dissidents, and they tarnish the word by using it. In South Africa, they even have tried to link their dissidence to that of Nelson Mandela, as if the two positions could in any way be equated. And when it comes to craven profiteering and the unethical exploitation of people with HIV, the denialists' champions, such as Matthias Rath and David Rasnick, take the cake.
Where Roger Hodge got it so badly wrong was to allow such an obviously error-ridden and biased article into a once-reputable magazine. In the circumstances, Hodge should now do what is honorable and resign for the sake of his magazine's reputation. He's proven himself not up to the task of editing an article. He's proven unable to exercise intelligent judgment about scientific discourse, medicine, public health and the HIV epidemic. He's proven himself gullible and sloppy by being fooled by a writer he told Gay City News he's known for "many years." Perhaps you knew Farber both too well and not well enough, Roger? And perhaps, Lewis Lapham, you knew Roger both too well and not well enough when bequeathing your legacy to him?

Well done Celia... keep on digging.....
The Citadel in Hue, Vietnam consists of 8 kilometers of walls in a square (2 km X 2 km) all surrounded by a wide deep moat fed by the river. There is a fortified gate on each side plus fortified towers including the corners. Within the Citadel lies the Imperial City with it's own 2.5 km of walls.
—from Wikipedia
In June 1802, after more than a century of division and the defeat of the Tây Sơn dynasty, Nguyễn Ánh ascended the throne of a unified Vietnam and proclaimed himself Emperor Gia Long. With a nation now stretching from the Red River Delta to the Mekong Delta, Emperor Gia Long moved the capital from the northern Thăng Long (current Hanoi) to Huế, the ancestral seat of the Nguyễn lords. Gia Long looked to "Confucianism and Chinese models of statecraft" as the best modes of authority, and with this ideology, he ordered the construction of a palace complex based on Beijing's Forbidden City in Huế. Geomancers were consulted as to a propitious location site for the new city, and construction began in 1803. Thousands of workers were ordered to build the walled citadel and ringing moat, measuring some 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) long. The original earthwork was later reinforced and faced with brick and stone resulting in 2 m (6 ft 7 in)-thick ramparts.

Madinat al-Zahra or Medina Azahara was a fortified palace-city on the western outskirts of Córdoba in present-day Spain. Its remains are a major archaeological site today. The city was built in the 10th century by Abd ar-Rahman III, a member of the Umayyad dynasty and the first caliph of Al-Andalus. It served as the capital of the Caliphate of Córdoba and its center of government.
The main reason for its construction was politico-ideological: Abd ar-Rahman III had declared himself "caliph" in 929 and the dignity of this new title required the establishment of a new city, a symbol of his power, imitating eastern caliphates. It sought to demonstrate his superiority over his great rivals, the Fatimid Caliphs of Ifriqiya in North Africa and the Abbasid Caliphs in Baghdad. The city was built near Córdoba, the existing capital of al-Andalus under Umayyad rule. Construction began in 936–940 and continued in multiple phases throughout his reign and the reign of his son, Al-Hakam II. The new city included ceremonial reception halls, a congregational mosque, administrative and government offices, aristocratic residences, gardens, a mint, workshops, barracks, service quarters, and baths. Water was supplied through aqueducts. After al-Hakam II's death, however, the city ceased to act as the center of government under the rule of Ibn Abi Amir al-Mansur. Between 1010 and 1013 it was sacked during a civil war and thereafter abandoned, with many of its materials re-used elsewhere.
The ruins of the city were excavated starting in 1911. Only about 10 hectares of the 112 hectares of the city have been excavated and partially restored, but this area includes the main palaces. A dedicated archeological museum, located on the edge of the site, was opened in 2009. On July 1, 2018, the site was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with the inscription name "Caliphate City of Medina Azahara".

One last crazy image, before I return to shooting trees and rocks. This was taken in Amsterdam in 2022 at ARCAM, the city's centre for architecture.
Of course, I had to once more let Chat GPT interpret the scene and create an 'artist's statement'. I find these hysterically funny...
"This piece explores themes of structure, memory, and the ethereal nature of identity within the modern world. The rigid three-dimensional grid of blue steel and glass represents order, logic, and the constructed frameworks—both physical and ideological—that define contemporary existence. Yet, within and through this structure, a ghostly figure emerges: an older man, seen from below, his presence both fleeting and embedded within the architecture.
The monochromatic blue tones unify the sky and the structure, blurring the lines between permanence and impermanence, between what is built and what is remembered. The figure, translucent and spectral, suggests a lingering presence—perhaps of wisdom, history, or a consciousness that has become entwined with the very structures we create. Is he an architect of this world, or is he trapped within it? Does he watch over the space, or is he fading into it?
By merging solidity with ephemerality, this piece asks viewers to consider the intersection of human presence and the systems we build. How much of ourselves becomes part of the structures that surround us? And when we are gone, do these structures continue to hold our memory, or do they erase us entirely?"
Yeah, right, sure. Why not....

On Valentine's Day 1990, the Voyager I unmanned spacecraft, nearing the edge of our solar system, turned its camera back towards where it had come from - a love letter to the earth. The resulting photograph saw the earth as a pale blue dot in a sunbeam and it inspired one of the greatest speeches ever made about our planet.
Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.
Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.
The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life. There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate. Visit, yes. Settle, not yet. Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.
It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character-building experience. There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.

I want to dedicate this triptych to Carl Sagan (1934-1996). A wonderful astronomer who never lost his sense of wonder. He is best known to the world for his groundbreaking television series Cosmos (1980), with its hauntingly beautiful musical soundtrack.
Sagan never lost sight of the fact that the great gift we have of being born on earth came with an immense responsibility. Watch this clip of his final appeal to us all:
Carl Sagan - Who Speaks for Earth?
Solitude
While studying photography in Pathshala, I developed new technical and aesthetic skills at an academic level and gained a fresh perspective on seeing the world around me. However, I still felt that something was missing. That missing piece was the ability to articulate aesthetics through language and to experience aesthetics with the basis of life itself.
During this time, I developed a deep desire to understand philosophy. Within a few months, I decided to pursue academic studies in philosophy. There were two main reasons behind this decision: first, to gain knowledge of philosophy, and second, to reshape my photographic view point through a philosophical angle—essentially, to integrate aesthetics with philosophy.
As I delved into this complex subject, I found myself particularly influenced by three philosophical ideologies: the philosophy of Nihilism, Engels and Marx’s materialism, and Gautama Buddha’s theory of Functionalism. These perspectives began shaping my understanding of life, humanity, society, and aesthetics. My way of seeing the world started to transform.
Nihilism and materialist philosophy argue that humans are not a special species. According to Buddha, life itself is full of suffering. Since humans are not inherently special and life has no predetermined purpose, people often experience restlessness. My photographs reflect this idea through landscapes, where excessive negative space in the frame symbolizes despair, purposelessness, and solitude in human life. Most people live under the illusion that they are unique compared to the surroundings. This belief prevents them from feeling truly connected to nature.
Lalon once said, "He and Lalon exist together, yet they are separated by infinite distance." Even though humans exist within nature, they somehow remain detached from it. In my frames, vast negative spaces with tiny human figures symbolize this very detachment. Here, nature is immense, and humans are small—serving as a reminder that humanity is not any superior to nature.
The mist in my photographs enhances the minimalist effect, further detaching people from their surroundings. The presence of human-made structures in the background represents our ongoing struggle to prove our superiority. However, the blurred, barely visible architecture behind the fog reflects the failure of this pursuit. Humanity is trapped in this endless contradiction, deepening its existential despair. Meanwhile, the fog thickens, and the distance between humans and nature continues to grow.

“Frontiers Reimagined was conceived to educate and enlighten viewers about the conceptual and formal issues that emerge from intercultural exchange in the artistic sphere,” stated Sundaram Tagore. “It is our hope that viewers will recognize that this exchange is not only a present-day manifestation but very much the reality of the future.”
The exhibition highlights the positive outcomes which globalization has had on artistic production, as selective cultural and artistic appropriation has become increasingly prevalent and as local artistic production has continued to gain exposure and acceptance on international platforms.
“Frontiers Reimagined aims to dissolve barriers of dominant nationalism, ethnocentrism and identity politics,” stated Marius Kwint. “At this moment in history, with people around the world locked in increasingly intransigent ideologies, the mingling of ideas across borders has never been more vital.”
I went for a field test with my new Nikon Z FC after weeks of being sick. I found this demonstration in front of the cathedral, unaware of the events that would unfold later in Venezuela.
I send my support to my Venezuelan friends and to all Venezuelans in general, no matter their ideologies/political preferences.

Americans are tired of divisive ideological politics, which is why Senator Obama has reached out to Republicans to find areas of common ground. He has tried to break partisan logjams and take on seemingly intractable problems. A beautiful black phoebe I saw while birding at Huntington Beach Central Park. It was hunting for small bugs from a fence post when I first spotted it. I took a photo right away, but having observed flycatchers before, I knew it would soon hit all its favorite perches. With not many birds to photograph, I waited patiently. After warming up a bit, it moved to a perch under a large tree. Initially, it was in a completely shaded spot, but then it shifted to a better location with more insect activity, resulting in a stunning portrait.

From Donald Gensler's web site:
PROJECT: Independence Starts Here
MURAL LOCATION: Hahnemann University Hospital (Intersection of Broad and Race, Philadelphia, PA).
The mural is approximately 12000 square ft. and is seven stories tall in height facing south on the Race St. side of Hahnemann University Hospital (75' x 160').
Within the design people with disabilities stand as monuments symbolizing different actors within a diverse and extraordinary community. These people are all from Philadelphia and of different races, genders, and backgrounds. Each person has a disability and is an engaged contributor to the various communities he/she represents.
There is also a screen or transparent tapestry that is layered over some of the main figures within the design. This screen has images of people with disabilities involved in all manner of activities within Philadelphia. Many are engaged within the creative process of making as a metaphor for growth and change. An additional element to the tapestry is the entire ASL alphabet finger spelling with corresponding letters underneath. Students from the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf modeled their hands for these painted characters. The twelve hands in color spell out the word “independence”.
The images in the screen are a testimony to the direct collaboration between Gensler (lead artist) and the community. Through a series of workshops and discussions, Gensler worked to understand some of the common ideologies and experiences within the disability community. This mural becomes a visual record of some of the people and groups within the disability community engaged and active in their lives.
From 1871-1872, a young Belgian, Hildebrand de Hemptinne (1849–1913), monk at Beuron Abbey in Germany, convinced his superiors to open a Benedictine house in his native country.
The Desclées, large industrialists, have a second home in Maredret, a neighboring village, and are thinking of founding a chapel there. Under the influence of Hildebrand and Victor Mousty, their steward, they joined the project of a vast abbey which they financed, at first alone, with great generosity. Thanks to them, Maredsous was founded on October 15, 1872. Hildebrand became Abbot in 1890, then was elected first Abbot Primate of the Benedictine Confederation in Rome in 1893.
Jean-Baptiste Béthune (1821-1894) was one of the initiators of the neo-Gothic style in Belgium. Its inspiration is consistent with its militant ideology: the reestablishment after the revolutionary period of Christian society. This will materialize - at least as he imagines it - by the resurrection, in all the arts, of the style considered Christian par excellence: Gothic (13th-15th centuries). It was in this spirit of artistic restoration that he founded the Saint-Luc technical schools in Brussels in 1862, which promised a brilliant future.
The architectural style chosen is primary Gothic (second half of the 12th century, beginning of the 13th century), and the general plan chosen is that of the Cistercian abbey of Villers-la-Ville (13th century). To implement this project, the Desclées hired a site manager, Gustave Soreil. He carried out this gigantic construction with the still limited mechanical means of the time. The architect's son, Father Ghislain Béthune, made beneficial modifications to the initial plans, particularly with regard to the church. In around twenty years, the neo-Gothic dream will materialize in the current abbey.

The EUR (in origin acronym for Universal Exposition of Rome) is an urban and architectural ensemble corresponding to the current IX municipal area of Rome. Built by Benito Mussolini, initially to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the March on Rome, in 1935 at the suggestion of Minister Giuseppe Bottai it was determined that the area was destined to accommodate the E42 exhibition on the model of previous World Expos. An exhibition foreseen for 1941-42 that never took place because of the 2nd World war broke out. The project, presented in 1938 under the direction of Marcello Piacentini, according to the fascist ideology, is inspired by Roman urbanism and it combines a "simplified neoclassicism” with some innovative elements of Italian Rationalism. The urban structure develops a system with orthogonal axes and majestic and imposing architectural buildings mostly covered with white marble and travertine in a way to remember the temples and buildings of the imperial Rome. On the main axis, the current Via Cristoforo Colombo, among other things, it rises a 45 meters tall obelisk dedicated Guglielmo Marconi, erected in 1959 on the occasion of the Olympic Games of 1960 and covered with 92 panels of Carrara marble sculpted by Arturo Dazzi. Much of the area is now controlled by EUR SpA (formerly Ente EUR ), owned by the Ministry of Finance for 90% and the City of Rome for the 10%.
Testo di #Alessandroloschiavo
Although the Industrial Revolution increased life expectancy, it also produced many negative consequences. As a result, we live in a society that has lost much of its roots and moral grounding. Therefore, we live unfulfilling lives. As technology continues to advance, we will witness more social disruption. We now live in an industrial-technological system, which we will not be able to turn back. As this system marches forward, we will lose our dignity and freedom—even our humanity.
We have become a society of leisure; we have become decadent. As a result, we have become bored, hedonistic, and demoralized. An individual must have meaningful goals in life, which they can ‘autonomously’ work toward—goals with real adversity and reward. In accomplishing such goals, a person finds fulfillment. In our modern society, we have lost much of our autonomy. We have been trained to be obedient to the system. We must follow ever-increasing bureaucratic rules and regulations. Nowadays, experts tell us what to do and how to think. We are cogs of the machine—we are under the direction and control of the system. Yet this is not healthy for human beings. We must have our own independence, so that we can build our lives by our own initiative. If there is little room for a person to exercise autonomy, they will feel insignificant. If they have the autonomy to attain meaningful goals, they will gain self-confidence. A society that cannot make/create/set or fulfill meaningful goals will become demoralized; they will suffer from low self-esteem and feelings of inferiority; they will suffer from depression, anxiety, and guilt; they will become frustrated, hostile, and unfriendly; they will become bored and pursue hedonistic pleasures in order to cope.
Many young people today lack goals. They cannot see themselves attaining enough financial stability to marry a spouse or raise a family. They cannot see themselves owning a house or having a future to look forward to. This results in demoralization and defeatism.
In the past, people had to truly survive. This took serious effort. They had to make tools and weapons. They had to hunt down an animal, kill it, butcher it, get it home, cook it, and eat it. How manly and satisfying! A man would find fulfillment in a lifetime of roaming and exploring the land, hunting wild game for his family. He would have many adventures. Yet in our modern society, it takes minimal effort to attain one’s basic needs. Today, we work dead-end jobs that are unsatisfying. They provide us with a paycheck, but they don’t provide us with real fulfillment. We then try to find fulfillment in hobbies and other leisure activities, which will not bring us real fulfillment. What is worse, we spend our spare time sitting around staring at screens. The human body is not built to live a sedentary life. The human brain is not built to doomscroll. Living sedentary lives and doomscrolling obviously leads to unhappiness. Such activities are less satisfying than accomplishing meaningful goals such as buying land, clearing the land of trees by hand, using the trees to build a house by hand, carrying ones wife over the threshold, raising a family, working the land and raising livestock, thus conquering the land and continuing ones posterity. This in itself is Biblical. Why do you think, when Christ returns, He will divide up the land among the people (as it was done in the Old Testament)? It is so that man will work his ‘own’ land. Then man will work in nature, where he will be happiest. God made nature for man, not man for nature. The goal of the globalist agenda is to further divide man from nature; it is an antichrist agenda. Their goal is transhumanism, which will dehumanize mankind and further divide him from nature. Moreover, transhumanism will divide man from God.
A pre-industrial society is predominantly rural. With the advent of the Industrial Revolution, the population of cities vastly increased. A technological society changes rapidly, thus there is less stability. These changes affect all aspects of society and cause the breakdown of traditional values. Breaking down traditional values causes the breakdown of societal bonds. An individual’s loyalty changes: it must not be first to their family or community, but first and foremost to the system. Indeed, individuals must be tools of the system. This makes us less independent and autonomous, because we become reliant on the system. The system is constantly changing, and we are taught to obey its changing rules and regulations. Yet these regulations are laid down by others. We have little to no input in the making of these rules. They are made by corrupt politicians and bureaucrats, corporations and organizations. This makes us feel powerless, which gives us a sense of hopelessness. Can you see why society has become so frustrated, insecure, humiliated, and angry? The more unfulfilled a society becomes, the more restless it becomes. Restlessness causes friction, and friction causes factions. Thus, a society breaks into factions. A society of impoverished relationships makes for a toxic society. Science will give us the tools to alter the material world, but our relationships with one another and with nature will be destroyed.
As society advances technologically, we lose more freedoms. People can’t even put down their phones, let alone toss them away to fight the system. People don’t want to sacrifice what they have become addicted to and dependent on. Yet they will replace their current technology with something more advanced. They will go from cell phones to wearable technology to microchips. With the promise of eliminating diseases and gaining super intelligence, much of society will give up freedom to be genetically engineered and microchipped. Even though, such a step will never be reversed. Humans will be modified to suit the needs of the system. They will become one with robotic technology.
Many people are not concerned about these dystopian scenarios. Yet technologies such as robotics, genetic engineering, and nanotechnology pose a great threat to humanity. These technologies will be used as tools to redesign the world. Self-replicating technologies will cause great damage to the biosphere. In the end, self-replicating technology will be impossible to control.
Artificial Intelligence will replace human creativity. In the future, the internet will be accessed only by your personal AI assistant. You will ask your AI assistant questions, and it will surf the internet for you. You will not go on Youtube to watch videos. You will ask AI to make the kind of videos you desire to watch. There will be no human content creators. Get used to AI art, AI videos, AI music, AI articles, AI slop! That is what you will be fed. Many who want to fight the system will eventually become passive, and they will no longer resist. They will be sucked into the system and become zombified. They will become docile slaves of the system. It desires complete control over everything on earth, both man and nature. Humanity will then be reduced to the status of domestic animals. Of course, this will be for the good of the planet!
If university students are using AI to write papers, AI will replace them in their future jobs. If teachers and professors are using AI to write curriculum and mark papers, AI will replace them. If the younger generation has no work ethic, they will be replaced by subsidized foreign workers, then both will be replaced by AI. If generation Alpha can’t read, then AI will replace them. The (dangerous) foreign semi-truck drivers on our roads will be replaced by AI self-driving trucks. AI in the schools, AI in the hospitals, replace, replace, replace. The politicians make many terrible decisions, thus they will be replaced by AI.
Moving on! The more society moves away from the traditions of marriage and family, the more unfulfilled and unhappy society will become. Radical leftists feel the least fulfillment, because they long to destroy society and its traditions. How happy can one be if they want to destroy their roots? They are constantly deconstructing themselves, it’s the Maoist way—how else can you brainwash yourself? Therefore, they feel guilt and self-hatred. They gain an inferiority complex. They have a love-hate relationship with themselves. On one hand they loathe themselves, but on the other hand they selfishly desire power. For this reason, they are self-loathing narcissists. They feel unfulfilled and powerless. Therefore, they seek power to bring about fulfillment. They feel weak and helpless, so they desire to feel strong and competent. It’s a coping mechanism. They also hate anything that appears strong, moral, and successful. They hate America, Western civilization, capitalism, the family, patriarchy, whites, males, heterosexuals, the rich, the middleclass, and even rationality. They despise all who are more beautiful, talented, intelligent, or successful than them. Envy does not equate to fulfillment or happiness. Side note: social media causes much envy and unhappiness.
The far left wants society to take care of them, because they are lazy and lack confidence. They feel strong only as a member of a large group or movement. They like to be abusive to those who disagree with them, because they have masochistic tendencies. The Marxist ideology is an authoritarian ideology, which is masochistic in nature, because it revolves around revolution. The far left may act empathetic, but they are apathetic. Indeed, a study on this topic found that radical leftists were apathetic and narcissistic. Their goals revolve around revolution and power. Their insecurity causes them to feel hostile, and their revolution helps them to vent their hostility. They don’t care about diplomacy, so they act hostile. With them, it is all or nothing: they want revolution, they want power. How can you have a rational conversation with individuals who don’t want dialogue? They use minorities as an excuse for revolution. They hide behind minorities, using them to shield their intentions of revolution. They go into poor black communities to fight for poor black people, yet they burn down black businesses and ruin their local economy. The communist must fight for the revolution, for everything opposed to the revolution is a sin. The communist tries to find fulfillment in the act of rebellion; he tries to find fulfillment in the act of revolution. He, however, is never satisfied. Thus, the revolution moves onward.
For the radical, activism is a vent for their pent-up emotions. Activism produces unity among the young militants, creating a bond between like-minded people. Losers can feel accepted, like they belong. Many of these communist agitators are from middle and upper middleclass homes. They have had an easy but unfulfilling life. They are the most radicalized, because they feel the most unfulfilled. They have become so demoralized that they have become nihilistic. Their life seems to have no meaning. They have lost their moral compass. They rely on emotions rather than on reason. They rely on feelings rather than on facts. “Their political activism is thus only a reaction to the more basic fear that the times are against them, that a new world is emerging without either their assistance or their leadership.” These activists will gradually accept more deviant subcultures as they further divorce themselves from reality. “The supreme irony of that loose and volatile sociopolitical phenomenon of contemporary middleclass America named the New Left is that it is itself the creation of the technetronic revolution as well as a reaction against it.” “The New Left was able to draw on the deep-rooted traditions of American populism, Quaker pacifism, and the pre-World War II largely immigrant-imported socialism and communism.” (The ‘New Left’ refers to the leftist movement of the 60s).
Paying for your child’s first car, college tuition, wedding, or house down payment will give them little sense of accomplishment. Giving children everything not only spoils them but also makes life boring. There must be ups and downs for life to be interesting. Bad times can produce growth and maturity, that is, if a person desires to learn from life. Especially if they want to build a strong moral character. The rewards of being cogs in the system produce great boredom. These middleclass kids have a self-indulgent lifestyle that contradicts their professed anti-materialism. Their material existence tends to depend on their parents. Their ideological infantilism stems from obsolete nineteenth-century criticisms of capitalism. They are spoiled kids who are rebelling against middleclass society. These activists offer no real response to the dilemmas of our age. Their revolutionary movement is really an escapist movement. It is a way of coping with their unfulfilled lives. They supposedly desire to change society, but they really want to create a refuge (safe space) from society. Their activism is a psychological safety valve, in which they can blow off steam. They escape their boring lives through activism, so they can feel a sense of freedom and self-gratification. They pat each other on the back, because they are supposedly fighting against their capitalist enemy. However, this is really a form of group therapy.
The woke activists on the ground are the canaries in the coal mine. They are indicators of the problems of our society as a whole. Through them, we have the best lens on society’s anxiety, uncertainty, vulnerability, and dissatisfaction. Side note: we can see the incoming collectivist system through the lens of the United Nations. They want to eradicate poverty. Yet they hide behind poverty, using it to shield their intentions of ruling the world. With communism, it’s all about gaining power. Communism is meant to go worldwide. Collectivism seeks to bind together the entire world (both man and nature) into a unified whole.
Neo-Marxism went through the dialectic with postmodernism and produced wokeism. Some think that post-postmodernism will have a more spiritual element to it. I think that wokeism will go through the dialectic with some sort of religious spiritualism, which will produce antichristism. Wokeism is authoritarian in nature, yet it has a quasi-religious character. Post-postmodernism will lead to an authoritarian system with a spiritual flavour. Man must be grounded to a one-world religion to be grounded to a one-world government. Woke socialism must have a spiritual awakening, so to speak. Wokeism must awaken further in its social enlightenment in order to transcend to the next level of social consciousness. This dialectic enlightenment will mix socialism with a spiritual experience. It will lead to transhumanism. The coming socialist leader—the antichrist—will combine socialism, religion, and transhumanism. Modernity, with its globalization, technology, and social(ist) change, has produced a society that lacks fulfillment. Although technology will bring less fulfillment to humanity, the technological system will lead it forward on a leash. I can see one of the marketing strategies for the Mark of the Beast: we live in stressful times, take the microchip and become numb to the stresses of reality. The soma of the Brave New World Order will give you fulfillment. You will be modified to suit the needs of the system. Warning: do not follow the world system!
Revelation 18:4 “Then I heard another voice from heaven say: ‘Come out of her, My people, so that you will not share in her sins or contract any of her plagues.’”
1 John 4:4 “Little children (believers, dear ones), you are of God and you belong to Him and have [already] overcome them [the agents of the antichrist]; because He who is in you is greater than he (Satan) who is in the world [of sinful mankind].”
1 John 2:15-17 “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world. The world is passing away, along with its desires; but whoever does the will of God remains forever.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Romans 8:7 “For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot.”
Galatians 5:25 “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.”
In a sinful world, no individual can experience perfect fulfillment. When I’m in eternity with the Lord, I’ll know perfect fulfillment!

Capital punishment, the death penalty, or execution is the killing of a person by judicial process as a punishment for an offense. Crimes that can result in a death penalty are known as capital crimes or capital offences. The term capital originates from Latin capitalis, literally "regarding the head" (Latin caput). Hence, a capital crime was originally one punished by the severing of the head.
Capital punishment has in the past been practiced in virtually every society, although currently only 58 nations actively practice it, with 95 countries abolishing it (the remainder having not used it for 10 years or allowing it only in exceptional circumstances such as wartime). It is a matter of active controversy in various countries and states, and positions can vary within a single political ideology or cultural region .

As the walls come down ideology is replaced with an ever growing corporate immorality, which if not checked will descend into social democratic bankruptcy across our land and reign chaos over world. There is possibly a very real evil here at work whose purpose is to bubble the human race. So be warned, be on your guard and prepare to consider doing anything that would delay curb this "New World Order" undertaking !
out of the blue my mom IM's me, 'are you happy?'
i thought to myself, what a rotten question to ask someone first thing in the morning. if i was nursing a secret depression, barely keeping my mask from grenading on my face, then this question would pull the pin. if i was nominally happy, then the question would invariably make me think about why i was happy - which would violate some quantum event-observer state and collapse the whole happy phenom. but my mom's intentions are good-hearted and sincere, so i answered:
ty: happy is as happy does
mom: 'and Life is just a box of chocolates'
ty: yes- i am happy.
ty siscoe: why?
mom: was just hoping that you were.
ty: i dont think life is about being happy. that was boomer hippie ideology
and that was our little white-feather-joy luck club minute.
but what is life about? what are your choices? self-indulgent interior exploration? self-negating altruism? an untested submission in religion? a nietzschean will to power? each choice here has its noble, brilliant side. equally, they all have a seedy, trog, dark side of the moon.
artists never truly love another, a parent's life is surrendered to the autocracy of the child, blind sheep are eventually sheared and slaughtered, Nietzsche's Superman was nothing more than a morphine-fueled intellectual tantrum.
so how am i happy? in this 15 billion-year old incomprehensibly chaotic and complex universe, i have carved out a niche where there are people in my life that i love and who love me. this is no trite feat and should never be taken for granted or for advantage.
and consider this: the fact you are reading this right now means you have a computer and an internet connection which implies that you possess an education and a reasonable curiousity; that you benefit from living in a modern technological society, you enjoy statistically decent health, and have enough free time and material substance to seek entertainment or knowledge. in short, the fact that you are here right this minute means that you are living a quantitatively better existence than 98% of all humans that have ever lived. quantitatively - not qualitatively. the quality is up to you. that's your burden and gift.
are you happy? count to ten and see if that question blows up in your face.

Artist Statement:
The borders between humans and animals, the manufactured and the natural, the spiritual and the visceral are distinct yet permeable, creating spaces for wonder and uncertainty. Influenced by my Catholic upbringing, I investigate hybridity within the context of Christian ideology. My inspiration comes from margins of illuminated manuscripts, lives of saints, to depictions of medieval monsters.

Trump is doing a ton of horrific things against anyone who isn't white, male, heterosexual, able bodied, and extremely rich but one story that has been buried and continues to not get much attention is how lessening of USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) will enable more cruelty to animals and will thereby also increase many harmful hormones in our food as well. From soring or big licking horses to puppy mills, this administration doesn't really care how animals are treated. As a vegan who believes in both human rights and animal rights, I've always believed it says a great deal about a person if they are willing to cause pain and death to an animal when they don't have to. I'm not surprised that Donald Trump condones this sort of thing but it should still alarm many people who care about animals in this country. Here's some good information about what has been happening:

Here's an International Humane Society website link for actions in your area to stop animal cruelty:

Also, feel free to email me if you want some vegan advice/recipes. I have been vegan for only a year and a half but I don't regret it at all. I've been vegetarian now for well over 20 years.

This monument located on Mount Buzludzha is the biggest ideological building in Bulgaria. It was built as a tribute to the creation of the Bulgarian socialist movement in 1891.
The construction of Buzludzha was made possible thanks to government funds and supporters’ donations for an amount of around 14 186 000 leva (around 7 000 000 €). The site was built by civil engineering troops from the Bulgarian army and volunteers. The master builder was General Delcho Delchev who was in charge of the Stara Zagora civil engineering section. The author of this project was the architect Guéorguy Stoilov. Several famous painters and sculptors have participated to the decoration.
Ever since the superseding of Bulgarian president Todor Givkovand and the political changes that occurred in Bulgaria from 1989, the state of the monument has continued to decay. portraits of Ludmila and Todor Givkov have been destroyed. The copper adornments have been stolen. The building is slowly disintegrating; the monument is abandoned and no public institution seems to be concerned by the conservation of renovation of the building. The Bulgarian socialist party itself is not taking any action towards the maintenance of its most important symbol. The big star has been perforated by gunshots because it was thought to be made out of ruby!

The exhibition at the Austrian Pavilion examines the phenomenon of the parliament from different perspectives. On the one hand, the exhibition presents a survey of all national parliament buildings in existence around the world as a network of architectural ideologies - a parliament of parliaments. This plenum is assembled in the form of 1:500 scale models, representing building types rooted in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Excerpt from the plaque:
Moses Lunham (Anishnaabe) is a First Nations artist from the community of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation. Realizing his "gift" at a young age, Moses loved to create and make art. "In my youth, my parents would teach me how to create many traditional crafts. They would take me to Pow Wows where I was inspired by what was taking place there. I'd leave a pow wow feeling the need to create art for the next one. My parents were my first teachers and they always made sure I had resources at hand for me to explore my creativity, to connect to nature and my culture."
Moses studied graphic art and design at Fanshawe College and exhibits his work throughout Southwestern Ontario and on the pow wow trail throughout the summer months. In 2015 Moses was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for his art from the Anishnaabek Nation. "My work is a reflection of my people (Anishnaabe), their spirituality and ideology."

Burlington, with support of the Hamilton Halton Brant Tourism Relief Fund, is creating an Indigenous Art Walk in Spencer Smith Park. This project seeks to celebrate and honour the work of First Nations, Métis and Inuit artists.
This project will link Spencer Smith Park with other key downtown arts and culture destinations including Joseph Brant Museum and the Art Gallery of Burlington.
In addition to the vinyl wraps, the Art Walk will include an Indigenous-themed crosswalk and a public art sculpture by David General which is being installed later this year at Joseph Brant Museum.
“Spencer Smith Park, along with every City facility, park and greenspace, is a welcoming and inclusive space,” said Chris Glenn, director of Recreation, Community and Culture.
“These nine commissions will honour and celebrate the work of First Nations, Metis and Inuit artists as residents and tourists walk along Spencer Smith Park and visit key downtown destinations such as the Joseph Brant Museum and the Art Gallery of Burlington.”

"Today we celebrate the first glorious anniversary of the Information Purification Directives. We have created, for the first time in all history, a garden of pure ideology, where each worker may bloom secure from the pests of any contradictory true thoughts. Our Unification of Thoughts is more powerful a weapon than any fleet or army on earth. We are one people, with one will, one resolve, one cause. Our enemies shall talk themselves to death, and we will bury them with their own confusion. We shall prevail!" — Big Brother
