On my last night in Venice I couldn´t sleep, so I decided to go to Piazza San Marco after midnight to take pictures. There I was finally alone and I found an umbrella and that´s how the idea for this picture came about.
This mural explores the basic idea of freedom of expression; the need to speak, of openness to others, that we all have as individuals and as a society.
This photo shows one of the two women of different ages in open dialogue. The title comes from the earring this woman wears, a key, which serves to unlock words and “set them free”.

Le Grand Planeur (Idea leuconoe) est une espèce de papillons de la famille des Nymphalidae, de la sous-famille des Danainae et du genre Idea.
Idea leuconoe se nomme Grand planeur en français et Papper kite ou Mangrove Tree Nymph en anglais
Idea leuconoe est un grand papillon d'une envergure de 95 mm à 110 mm4. Idea leuconoe est blanc veiné et orné de noir dont les marques marginales et submarginales sont confluentes et forment deux bandes irrégulières.
La chrysalide est de couleur jaune.

I have no idea what they make at this place, but my thought was some up-sized moonshine distillery, or a meth lab. I think this was someplace between Raton and Las Vegas, New Mexico. For sure I-25 and northern New Mexico. I've kept a journal since 2009 with date, odometer, and nearest town. So for a picture like this that was taken in 2012, by the date & time of day it was taken, I can usually figure out roughly where I took the picture.
Indeed, I had no idea at what I was looking at, but I was prompted to take a picture!
I saw this at the day we were invited to watch the demolition of the old building, at the place where they are going to build my new appartment building.

I watched this squirrel come down the branch and check out the barred owl. Like he went all the way up to the owl and sniffed him! Luckily for the squirrel, the owl was occupied with something else in the distant woods.
