Ice forms along seeps and seasonal waterfalls along cliffs in the Absaroka Mountains. This impressive frozen falls occurs on a cliff along the North Fork Canyon Road in Shoshone National Forest. Rocks that make up the cliff are volcaniclastic rocks that belong to the Eocene Absaroka Volcanics Supergroup.
Hanging above a slot passage through sandstone needles above Elephant Canyon in Canyonlands, these icy pointed pillars were poised to plunge on any passersby who perambulated under them. I was glad the temperatures were below freezing when I snuck by.
Alongside the steeply climbing road "Gråura" between Sunndalsøra and Oppdal several small waterfalls shed their water over the rocky roadside. And when the weather is cold, they turn in to a spectacular display of a thousand icicles, partly colored by organic material and/or iron.
I spent too much time working on other tasks today so I had to phone it in on my image. This is just an icicle hanging off of my awning and the sunlight is just starting to fade away for the day.

I've taken similar shots on Derbyshires gritstone edges, but these icicles were on my garden shed, and I used a stepladder to get the shot :)
These last icicles formed on some twigs a few days ago from the waves on Torch Lake, MI.
They just begged to become my slider Sunday fun photo!! It took quite a few filters to achieve this effect. And I had a tough time choosing my favorite!
Happy Slider Sunday! 😄
Eiszapfen in der Breitachklamm.
Die Breitachklamm ist eine beeindruckende und tiefe Felsenschlucht am Ausgang des Kleinwalsertals. Im Winter bilden sich interessante Eisformationen.

Icicles in the Breitachklamm.
Breitachklamm is a gorge at the Austrian border of Germany. It is one of the most impressive rocky gorges in middle Europe. It can be visited also on many winter days. Then you will find lots of extraordinary ice formations.
You can reach it either from the German side (Tiefenbach near Oberstdorf, Bavaria) or from Austria (Riezlern).
Things started freezing up last night... so I had to take shots of some icicles on the tree.. LOL..
I hope you all had a great Monday!!!!!
I played with tree branches dripping icicles by zeroing in on a section, going heavy on the B&W, and grunting the background.

Icicles are rare down south. What a delight it was to see these hanging from some guttering at the holiday cottage we were staying in!
