Nightly freeze/thaw cycles occurring up until recently, have created a subtle palette of hues in local harbour ice. I usually don't see a composition in the resulting melee but here, it was more eye catching.

Outside it is now more and more spring, but still I have a lot of winter pictures ready to upload. Just over a month ago there was still plenty of ice skating on the Dutch waters.

I hope you all are enjoying a refreshing Monday!
Happy MM!
My favourite pick of the year for the "YOUR FAVORITE PIC FROM YOUR PHOTOSTREAM" in 52 weeks of pix.
Icecold winter morning in the historic district of my hometown Basel.
In my opinion, Basel has the most beautiful sunrises during wintertime. The arches of the Mittlere Brücke and the grand buildings of Grossbasel are illuminated with golden light only at this time of the year.
This oft photographed tree, usually referred to as the Summerfolk Tree, has become a bit of a cliché. Consequently, when my better half wanted to have another look in the newly formed ice, I was not very enthusiastic. That attitude changed quickly when we saw the different textures and the one piece of ice that was upended. I hoped to get closer and exaggerate the perspective but the ice pans were moving with the swell and grinding noisily together. It was just too sketchy! Kudos go entirely to my partner for the suggestion to have a look.
Freezing serene view of, yes, another sunset. Though I found this view quite appealing as I saw(see), something pristine in it, except for the oversnowed skatemarks.
one of many geothermal miniature" powerplants" in Iceland. This one is near Efri Reykir, Arnessysla. The borehole was made in 1988 and is 720 metres deep connecting directly to a hot thermal waters, thus powering 19 farms and 500 summer houses. On top it looks good in the icecold winter temperatures :)
We're now into day 2 of being storm stayed and the city has declared a "significant weather event," which is their way of mitigating any liability issues that might arise from uncleared roads or sidewalks. It's giving me a good excuse to stay home and continue with the different processing of these older images. I had taken this one on a snowy day as well.
