BMS students witnessed as Principal Kerry Putnam, Lead Teacher Tonya Treadway, SRO BJ Owens, and Coach Cody Ashe, answered the challenge to give a donation and get iced in support of the ALS Association (alsa.org). Friday afternoon's spectacle turned into a fundraiser which raised $82 from students vying for the chance to douse their teachers and school leaders. A spirited way to end a successful first week at school!

Senator Terry Gerratana and Representative Bob Sanchez finish dumping ice water on Representative Peter Tercyak as Representative Rick Lopes looks on with astonished pleasure. The legislators took part in the “Ice Bucket Challenge” and made contributions to ALS treatment at New Britain’s Hospital for Special Care. The Hospital for Special Care is home to the largest ALS treatment program in New England. The Ice Bucket Challenge has raised $88.5 million for the ALS Association since July 29th, a huge victory compared to the $64 million raised in all of 2013. (August 28, 2014)

Our 3 year old daughter Amber decided she wanted to join the fun and asked if she could do an ice bucket challenge. Obviously there was no ice and the water was kinda warm but none the less she done it. She nominated Princess Anna & Queen Elsa from The Disney Film Frozen. We are trying to share this as much as possible to try and get them to do it. All for good causes and a bit of good fun. Thank You.
On Monday, August 10th, Governor Charlie Baker and Lt. Governor Karyn Polito took part in the ALS “Every August Until a Cure” Ice Bucket Challenge at the State House. Co-founder Pete Frates and his family participated alongside the Governor, Lt. Governor, Senate President Rosenberg, Treasurer Goldberg, Auditor Bump, and members of the administration.
