On a silent and pretty calm nightshift.
Stood here for a while, and enjoyed the silence.
This is the new icebreaker of the Chilean Navy, currently under construction in Asmar, Talcahuano. The ship itself still has no name, but the project is called Antarctica 1.
This is a 1: 200 scale model, the original is 110 m long and displaces 12,000 tons. It is a Chilean-Canadian design and should be ready by 2022, it will be the most modern icebreaker in South America, and the largest and most complex ship ever built in Asmar.
This icebreaker will fulfill functions of supplying our bases in Antarctica, search and rescue missions and will allow scientific research activities. It will be equipped with two SH32 Cougar helicopters.
This LEGO model was built with approximately 2000 pieces, and can be displayed as a complete model or as a waterline model in an Antarctic diorama.
Hmm, from the side view the shards of ice that sticks out in front of the boat is at it's best angle.

This photo turned out nothing like I expected, although I like the effect. I used a monobath to develop, and suspect it is on its last legs of usefulness.
Two towering icebergs stand firmly in the freezing waters of Scoresby Sund, in Eastern Greenland. Both layered in contrasting ribbons of smooth and fluted ice, the top of the right berg is lit by the sun like a glowing blue torch.

The Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker Samuel Risley makes her way up the Detroit River on a frigid winter's day. Wind chill was a cool -23°F.
You can see our shadow there while Hef was flying. Now, this ship you see here is on the Icebreaker, but it was right behind it. When the Icebreaker arrives every year down in Antarctica, it’s a big deal! They they can finally get in some much-needed supplies. All the countries down there generally share space on the ships that bring supplies… there are all sorts of logistics that go into it.
