Icebreakers in Helsinki harbor. Some of these powerful ships are equipped to use both low-sulfur diesel and liquified natural gas. Polaris has 3 azipod thrusters. The ships were designed to operate in the 5-foot thick ice sheet that historically formed in Finland's Baltic shipping lanes. Prior to the development of ice-beaking ships in the 20th century, Finland's ports were ice-locked all winter. Some of these vessels were designed to carry out other operations during the warmer 9 months of the year, such as oil-spill containment and clean-up. The necessity of icebreakers in a future influenced by global warming is uncertain.

This was the spectacular view on the Mackenzie River during spring. Massive blocks of ice were slowly drifting by as the ferry cruised throught the spindles and shards of ice.
My father called me that the icebreakers just entered the local "lock?" (germ. Schleuse)
So i took my camera quickly and drive like devil to there xD
NOrmally it's about 12min(i tried to find the right time but nowhere i can find it) for one turn. Cause of this devilsride to there i did not recognized that i've this still my 50mm primelens on my cam ....
Everything gone bad, i arrived upward the lock where they'll leave, several other people were there too.
After i just found a great place to shoot a police car came upwards and told us that our cars are not allowed to stand there xD
The results:
- some funny pictures
- 10min discussion with a local policeman
- some HD Video trys that flickr don't really like
- And the insight
i need a camerabag for all lenses and my english got reallly bad since i leave school xD
