My b-day present from my brother was his old ThinkPad. I *heart* it because it's mine and I haven't owned a laptop of my own in a really, really long time.

IBM Model M keyboard, found in a trash bin in the basement of Tate Labs on the UMN campus. While not the quintessential Part # 1391401 Model M, it's still a classic.
This particular one is Part # 52G9700, one of the post-1992 ones built by Lexmark. Purists claim that they have slightly lower build quality than true IBMs, but frankly, compared to today's keyboards, you're not going to notice the difference.
I hate modern keyboards. You don't get any tactile feedback of when the key is triggered, you just end up ramming the key into the bottom of the keyboard. It's bad for the keyboard, it's bad for your fingers, and it hurts your typing speed.

The IBM Selectric typewriter was introduced on July 31, 1961. A highly successful electric typewriter that eventually captured 75 percent of the United States market for electric typewriters used in business. It wouldn’t be a stretch to state that for many small offices the Selectric was their first equipment purchase. The innovative Selectric replaced the traditional typewriter’s moving carriage with a paper roller (“platen”) that stayed in position while a typeball (below) and ribbon mechanism moved from side to side.
