ENG: The Speicherstadt ('City of Warehouses', meaning warehouse district) in Hamburg, Germany is the largest warehouse district in the world where the buildings stand on timber-pile foundations, oak logs, in this particular case. It is located in the port of Hamburg - within the HafenCity quarter—and was built from 1883 to 1927.

The Volta River is the main river system in the West African country of Ghana. It flows south into Ghana from the Bobo-Dioulasso highlands of Burkina Faso. The main tributaries of the river are the Black Volta, the White Volta, and the Red Volta. In the northwest, the Black Volta forms the international borders between the Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Burkina Faso. The Volta flows southward along the Akwapim-Togoland highlands, and it empties into the Atlantic Ocean at the Gulf of Guinea at Ada Foah. It has a smaller tributary river, the Oti, which enters Ghana from Togo in the east. The Volta River has been dammed at Akosombo for the purpose of generating hydroelectricity. This was taken south of Lake Volta at the Adomi Bridge. There is a large delta near this spot in the river before it consolidates again into a single flow. A peaceful early morning start to our first day of birding in Ghana. We were heading to the Kpong Wetland and Shai Hills Resource Centre. A pair of Black Kites floated over the river as we admired this beautiful river.
