I have rarely shot a photo of the sky but this magnificent explosion of white clouds against the cobalt blue skies along the Connecticut shoreline just demanded it, especially after this area was hard hit with a punishing tornado and numerous micro bursts, a term I had never heard before, just a few days earlier. August 30 was such a gorgeous, balmy day in New Haven, Connecticut.

Hoober Stand is a 30-metre-high tower and Grade II* listed building on a ridge in Wentworth, South Yorkshire in northern England. It was designed by Henry Flitcroft for the Whig aristocrat Thomas Watson-Wentworth, Earl of Malton to commemorate the quashing of the 1745 Jacobite rebellion.
