The former Hiroshima Commercial Industrial Hall was the only building near the hypocenter left standing when the atomic bomb exploded on August 6, 1945.

This part of the Urikami Cathedral survived the blast despite being located just 500 meters northeast of the hypocenter. It has been relocated to this area, which is called the prayer zone.

The A-Bomb Dome was one of the few buildings that wasn't leveled by the bombing because it was so close to the hypocenter where the bomb exploded in the air.
