As part of another one of spokanes ancient fixtures from decades and decades (it used to be yellow) ago the hydrant is a symbol of salvation. I wanted to be directly under the hydrant but it was crowded with bushes/grass and all hydrants are covered in old dog pee so it isn't the angle I wanted (shadows hardly showed up.) The background trees and the yellow paint on the hydrant both promote a sense of age while the red is the dominant color on a backdrop of blue giving the whole scene a subconscious level of safety (supermans 3 colors are red yellow blue.)
There were a ton of fire hydrants at Pack Forest. This is one of about four I photographed on Monday.

Some pretty creative litterbugs decided that if there's no trash bin, this hydrant will do. Heck I'm not even sure if there was a trash bin, these jokers would actually use it.
Perhaps there might be some leftovers for the firemen?

I just love the color of the hydrant and I also worked with layers and color tones to achieve the colors in this photo.
I don't suppose it hurts a fire hydrant if it gets a little wet! With a yellow "no parking" sign also reflected.

Fire hydrant at the corner nearest home is currently providing drinking water while regular water mains are being replaced.

This rather washed out and faded sign was on a concrete post along the front of my garden. Although not used now as hydrants are on GPS, it needed a rub down and coat of paint to restore to its former glory.
