I hate that our town doesn't use the classic red hydrant color scheme. This color is boring for photography. You'd think they'd know that. Oh, well.
To view in stereo, sit 2-3 feet from the monitor and gently cross your eyes so that the two images become three. The one in the middle will be in 3d. If you are finding this difficult, you may be trying too hard. Viewing the original size is best.
I found this nifty-looking fire hydrant at the Experimental Farm. I was taken also by the McAvity name which used to be on many Ottawa plumbing fixtures.
The McAvity name remains well known today, with products still in service that were first installed in the early 1900s. McAvity's long-standing reputation makes McAvity fire hydrants and valves the choice of many municipalities today. The McAvity name is instilled in the minds of the people of Saint John. McAvity & Sons Company played a large role in the city's development from the early 1800s and will always be an important part of Saint John's history.
Hydrant and Graffiti Mutiple Exposure.
Here you can see the graffiti that didn't show up in the first frame.
All 12 photos in this set were shot on Saturday June 4th between 2:30pm and 4:30pm as a part of the 120 challenge. They were shot in a Lubitel 2 using Fiji Provia 400 film which was cross processed.
Hydrant in North Greenbush, NY. if it were in Bethlehem, the Green would signify a 12" main, but it's in North Greenbush, so the Green almost certainly signifies AWAA class A status (between 1000 and 1500 GPS flow capacity)
Some dufus hit a fire hydrant on the street below me yesterday afternoon. I think the water shot up at least 50 feet high.
An unusual pile of old fire hydrants found along a construction equipment site in Belmont Ohio. I wonder if they would give one of these away? My dog would love it.
One of the very few old school fire hydrants left standing right in front of 104 year old Victoria Concert Theatre Singapore
Featured on www.weeklyfifty.com on April 24, 2013. Something about this fire hydrant was interesting to me.
This is an old Eclipse Hydrant manufactured by the Kupferle Foundry Company of St. Louis, Missouri. The Kupferle Foundry Company was started in 1857 by John C. Kupferle. The Foundry was known for manufacturing all sorts of items from shoe lasts, saw clamps, counter stools, well wheels, laundry irons, to saloon door hinges. About thirty years after Kupferle opened their doors they started manufacturing water hydrants. The first water products that were manufactured are still being manufactured today such as the Eclipse Hydrant #1, #2, #7 and the #36 Street Washer.

These quintessentially American elements of street furniture, always fascinating to visitors from abroad, are located on Nassau Street, in Lower Manhattan. I photographed them on January 8, 2013, on the first day of my ten-day trip to the US to campaign for the closure of the prison at Guantánamo Bay on the 11th anniversary of its opening.
