Didn't know hydrants came in Yellow

It's not too often that a person stumbles upon a fire hose hooked up to a hydrant, but yesterday, that happened to me. I was almost giddy as I looked at the hose folded up in interesting rows with the nozzle carefully placed on top. I like to think that the local fire department knew I was coming and had this ready for me to shoot.

Fire Hydrant in a New York snow

Found this old 5 1/4" hydrant alongside a frontage road between some abandoned manufacturing facilities and the main CSX RR tracks that bisect my hometown. Has 1948 stamped above the nozzle openings of which the caps have been long lost to vandals or ne'erdowells.

They Call Me the Fireman

~ George Strait

They call me the fireman

That's my name

Makin' my rounds all over town

Puttin' out old flames

Well everybody'd like to have what I've got

I can cool 'em down while they're smolderin' hot

I'm the fireman

That's my name

Last night they had a bad one a mile or two down the road

Well my buddy walked out and left this woman burnin' out of control

Well I was down there in 'bout an hour or so

With a little mouth-to-mouth she was ready to go

I'm the fireman that's my name

Well everybody'd like to have what I've got

I can cool 'em down while theyre smolderin' hot

I'm the fireman that's my name...burn 'em up

I've got fire-engine red t-bird automobile

In a minute or less I can be dressed fit to kill

I work twenty-four on and twenty-four off

When they get too hot, they just give me a call

I'm the fireman, that's my name

The OS fire department held a contest in which people paint a hydrant and maintain it for a year. I think this is too late, but the local merch discovered it a good advert for thiere business to paint the hydrant by thiere store.

Fire Hydrant is what popped out when I was riding my bike around asking the Lord to help me find an F word to take a photo of. My list failed me today. I wasn't going to Furano. My flat futon would require me to pull the sheets off my bed and I was out of ideas.

3D stereo phantogram crossview. If unfamiliar with phantograms, please do a search on the net for information on how to view these special 3D stereos.

Some may not be aware that you can also do phantograms in other 3D formats besides anaglyph! Anaglyphs are the most common format however and possibly why people assume they have to be in that format.

An SIS hydrant truck is connected to the central aviation fuel pipeline network and provides fuel to the aircraft. There is a significant advantage with hydrant systems when compared to fuel trucks, as fuel trucks must be periodically replenished.
