A hand-held shot of one of the Hydrangea blooms that I am lucky to have gracing the garden at the moment. Taken with a Panasonic Lumix G9 coupled with a Lumix Leica 12-60mm lens.
Hydrangea, common names hydrangea or hortensia is a genus of 70–75 species of flowering plants native to Asia and the Americas. It belongs to the Hydrangeaceae family. ‘Hydrangea’ is derived from Greek and means ‘water vessel’, which is in reference to the shape of its seed capsules. By far the greatest species diversity is in eastern Asia, notably Korea, China, and Japan. Most are shrubs 1 to 3 meters tall, but some are small trees, and others reaching up to 30 m by climbing up trees. They can be either deciduous or evergreen, though the widely cultivated temperate species are all deciduous. Flowers are produced from early spring to late autumn; they grow in flowerheads most often at the ends of the stems. 13466

Hydrangea is derived from Greek and means ‘water vessel’ in reference to the shape of its seed capsules. The earlier name, Hortensia, is a Latinised version of the French given name Hortense, honoring French astronomer and mathematician Nicole-Reine Hortense Lepaute.

For a slightly cooler look, here is a garden of hydrangeas that used to be filled with lilies but have now been replanted.

Hydrangea
Had a little wander around the garden earlier, the light was shining nicely on the remaining flowers and the dying heads too.
It always amazes me how the heads of the hydrangea manage to stay in place so long amongst all the wind and rain, with all their delicate petals.
After many years, loots of hydrangeas are showing this year, which is probably due to the recent abundant rain - so everything has its pros and cons!

This bloom of Hydrangea turned sideways... beautiful and delicate.
I gently brought it in.
The flower spoke to me of essence, the spine.
The blooms quite young.
With love to you and thank you for ALL your faves and comments, M, (* _ *)
