The Red-tailed Hawk returns with a mouse or vole and enjoys it's meal.

The Great Blue Heron finds a fish in the boggy muck. Normally this area is covered in shallow water but the dry summer had left lots of exposed areas.

This week's theme of the 'Smile on Saturday!:)' group is 'One Word'. I chose this photo of one of my squirrel friends in the forest at Monrepos to show you the one word I would hear from the squirrels there as soon as they see me, if only they could talk. As they can't talk they have to find other ways to communicate. :)

This is a Great Blue Heron common around our lakefront areas. He has a majestic stance while searching for small fish.

L'homme affamé

I found these guys eating a leaf the day before yesterday, I decided to take a few more pictures yesterday, but 4 cuckoos showed up and ate them all. I counted 85 of them on the same guava tree.

What wonderful creatures, but they can be vicious with their prey. I love their expressions and their curious nature.

This Golden Crowned Sparrow was very busy munching on tender leaves in the bush. And he was even kind enough to share with others, maybe not of the human type. Although often overlooked the lowly Sparrow is a very beautiful bird with many different types in its large family. They photograph well and have a variety of beautiful markings and colors.
