First introduced in 1979, one HP-41C that flew the nine early Space Shuttle missions is on display in the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.
Mine was a model CV, the V for the Roman numeral 5, it with expanded memory. It was provided by employer and used for neutron spectroscopy. Upon leaving that job, I bought the one pictured above for myself that is still in use 40 years later.
Numerical entry uses Reverse Polish Notation whereby numbers are more efficiently placed on a stack to be directly operated upon and therefore doesn't require an equal key. In the number crunching world, it became known as the calculator without equal.
We stopped for a coffee in Jeff's as we tried to find the tram route into old Warsaw.
