Handley Page HP.115 XP841 on display appropriately under Concorde 002's wing at the Fleet Air Arm Museum, Yeovilton.

The HP.115 was a testbed aircraft built in the early 1960's as part of the research programme to develop a supersonic transport (SST) aircraft which would eventually evolve into Concorde. It was designed specifically to test the low speed handling characteristics of the tailless delta wing configuration chosen for the SST.

The sole aircraft, XP841 flew for the first time in August 1961 from Royal Aircraft Establishment Bedford. It continued in service with the RAE through to 1974, providing useful data relating to low speed operations with the delta wing, particularly on takeoff and landing. In 1964 it was joined in the Concorde development programme by the BAC 221 (modified Fairy Delta 2) which was used for high speed research.

The HP.115 was powered by a single Bristol Siddeley Viper turbojet and featured a 75 degree sweep delta wing with planform and aerofoil section representative of that expected to be used for the future SST. It also had a fixed landing gear. The u-shaped pipe over the wing leading edge is the outlet from the smoke generator, which allowed airflow over the wing to be observed.

At this point the MSS has 2x500GB + 2x1TB WD Green drives, and the TR4M-B also has 2x1TB WD Green drives. The WD MyBook is not part of the MSS drive pool for now, but has an extra terabyte of storage available "just in case", lol :)

I was contacted back in August to make a Stacie-sized sweater, modeled after one of the designs seen in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". Remember the scene with the flying car and Whomping Willow? This is modeled after Ron's sweater in that scene.

I bought a few different yarns before settling on this llama yarn. By the end of the knitting, my hands were irritated by the tiny fibers getting under my fingernails. I blocked the sweater before leaving on vacation in November, then took some time to work on embroidery while I figured out how to finish the closures. Eventually, I wore nitrile gloves (those purple ones), so I could sew on the hook-and-eye closures. They're extra handy, because I'm also having a skin reaction to my new embroidery needles. (Ugh, nickel allergies!)

Other than blocking it and adding the closures, not much has changed since I photographed the sweater in October. I'm not sure when I'll take a knitting commission again, especially for smaller dolls like this. I'll likely avoid the llama wool in the future, and I may send the rest of the yarn to a friend.

Model is a "When I Read, I Dream" Jo (from "Little Women"), wearing her stock tights and shoes.

Jezebel raises an important issue pertaining to the Miley Cyrus controversy: conflicting sexual norms across the world. In the U.S., a sexualized image of a 15 or 17 year old can give rise to cries of child porn; in China, where the age of consent is 14, a Disney billboard with a sexed-up twelve year old passes without notice until seen by Western eyes.

The photo above illustrates how authorized PR in another country can stand in striking contrast to PR ad home. It's an European ad for HP Laserjets that incorporates the overt sexual objectification of young girls common in manga, particularly in the genre known as lolicon.

In the U.S., corporate scandals have led HP to try to boost its tarnished corporate image by celebrating its commitment to civic virtue. The negative attention from an ad like this could be counterproductive, to say the least.

In Europe the reaction so far seems to be mixed, although one blog, Daily Yoghurt, has asked readers to post their own colorized versions.
